Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 1 Peter 4:12

I wonder how many of us cringe when we read the above verse? Does it make us uncomfortable when we read about fiery trials coming our way? Do we faint and grow weary in the day of adversity, or do we stand our ground and wait on the Lord knowing our salvation comes from Him?
Notice that Peter is informing us that these fiery trials are going to come and when they do they should not be looked at as a unique event or as Peter states: some strange thing.
In other words, trials are part and parcel of the Christian walk. We should expect them but also know that The Lord will provide a way out, a landing-place, for He is our high tower, a shield about us, our help in time of trouble.
There is an expression I coined several years ago and I think it was introduced here on the Sunday Bun.
Every Christian will spend time in the forge of the living God. We will be heated up and then placed on His anvil and pounded into a new shape… then cooled off. In other words, we should expect to be re-shaped by The Spirit of the Living God.
Every Christian I know spends time on the anvil in the forge of the living God. It’s part of the process and without it, we would remain stagnant and dead in the way we used to live before salvation.
Truly we become new creatures in Christ!
When trials come our way, there are some very practical strategies we can employ. The first is acknowledging that we are in a trial. In other words, pinpoint what is going on and look it dead in the eye!
The second strategy is calling what is happening out by name.  Here’s what I mean. We are being attacked in our finances. There is sickness in our family. Someone is slandering us. Someone is spreading lies about us. I am being singled out at work for no reason. I am being persecuted for my faith.
The list is almost endless but by calling out the trial, by recognizing it we then can begin to warfare against it, which is the third strategy.
We are told that our weapons are not carnal but spiritual. In other words, we put on the armor of God that we read about in Ephesians 6. We pray and believe we already have the victory in Jesus. We stand and hold our ground. We can fast. We can play worship music. We can double up on our devotion time, reading scripture.
Finally, we can rest in The Lord. Be still and know that He is God. Rest in Him in the midst of the storm knowing that He is in control, even when it doesn’t look that way.
Are you going through a trial? Know that nothing that can happen takes Jesus by surprise. Claim the victory and stand!

Has the Church Lost its Salt?

Like it or not, this is where we are a culture, as a people, as a nation. There are churches on every street corner in every town in America. Yet, in every town there is a coven of witches and their numbers are growing.
The fascination with all things occult is influencing our young people. Our youth is being drawn to the dark side through music, film and TV shows as well as Ouija boards being sold in major stores at Christmas.
They are being initiated into the world of Satanism. I’ve shown this picture before and it’s old news but it is a barometer of what has become an in-your-face assault on Christian values and the church.
So why is this happening? Jesus tells us that in the later days the “church” will have a form of religion but deny its power. Welcome to the American Church.
So how do we fix this? Glad you asked.
  1. Worship has become entertainment in many churches and many worship leaders have no idea of how to bring a congregation into the “throne-room.” Then there is usually complete insensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Here’s an example. The congregation has just finished singing Revelation song. They are standing  in silence with an attitude of worship when a college student comes to the mic, greets the people and starts reading the morning announcements. I’ve seen this happen so many times I can’t count. It is at this point, when the people have been ushered into the presence of the Lord that He can move…if we let Him. There can be a word of knowledge, a tongue with an interpretation, a prophecy, a revelation, someone who is sick could be healed. It can happen but it needs to be done decently and in order and we have to get out of the way to allow it to happen in the first place.
  2. So let’s say there is a move of the Holy Spirit and the “gifts” are utilized. Then, someone other than the pastor who has a gift of intercession should lead the people in prayer. Most churches pray for less than a minute. The Elders and deacons should be present on stage for support and also, if led, to pray too. The “leader” should target the fortune-teller in town, the abortion clinic, the crack house, the sick in the congregation should come forward and be anointed with oil and prayed for. This would involve the people in doing something other than sitting. It engages them in our most powerful weapon, prayer!
  3. Afterwards comes a teaching by the pastor, from God’s word. An entire chapter, verse by verse is looked at. The pastor should also address world events in regard to prophecy. When the shootings happened in Los Vegas was a perfect time not only to pray but address what happened. This way not only is God’s word taught but the people are informed.
  4. Lastly there should be a time when people can be prayed for individually. This should happen right after the service where the elders and deacons both men and women can pray for specific needs.
In closing the Bun. The youth are tired of games, events, church picnics, and potlucks. They are hungry for God, although most of them don’t know that. It’s easy for them to be seduced by the dark side and this is why many have drifted away. However, if they saw the Spirit of the Living God at work, it would, I believe change their lives.

It’s a sad day on Facebook. It was brought to my attention that a certain Jan Hodges wrote some nasty stuff about me on Facebook regarding our taking some time off, our much needed vacation.
Peggy and I are on vacation. We were comped 10 days at a really nice Hotel. That means it’s for free. All we had to do is come up with the money to ski. I guess in Hodges mind we’re not allowed to have a vacation. Mean spirited anyone?
I’m amazed at how  low some people will go. Who is the accuser of the brethren?
Even here, while on “vacation” I did a show last night with Daniel Ott.
 Just to clear something up. The donations go to the ministry not to our vacation! L.A.

This just came in. Two different perspectives. One accusation the other uplifting. Which would you like spoken into your life.

Thought some encouragement would be nice right now. I’m thankful for the work you do and god does through you. There is no doubt in my mind that god pointed me in your direction. For many years after my encounter my faith in god was seriously jeopardized. It wasn’t until I saw your website and watched some of your videos that i was able to put a biblical perspective on it. Now that i know what we’re dealing with, my faith in God is restored and strengthened more than ever before.  I’m also thankful that you often respond to my emails as it can get overwhelming when a person has a crazy experience and there is nobody you can really talk to about it. I also thought it showed your true character when you took time from your busy life to call me, spend a few minutes talking with me and then pray for me. It meant a lot to me. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has felt alone because of their encounters and unusual experiences, and that you have done the same for them. People need to realize that this is how you make a living and that you are not an evangelist, although you do bring people to him or in my case back to him. Please don’t be discouraged and know that there are many people like me that are extremely grateful for the affect you have had on their life.  I will continue to pray for you and your family as well as your ministry. We  Await His Return…Where is the promise of His coming?

Where is the promise of His coming. Why hasn’t He returned, after all it’s been almost 2000 years? In His absence we have had the destruction of Jerusalem, the Black Plague, the slaughter of untold millions, in endless wars. Then there’s WWI and WWII, and the systematic killing of millions more in the gulags and concentration camps.
Where is He and why does He allow the mindless slaughter to continue….?
It’s easy for us to rail against what we see. However what we see, the carnage, the destruction, are the fingerprints of the god of this world, i.e. Satan.
We are in the midst of what I call a Cosmic Regime Change. The god of this world is in the process of being deposed. He’s on the way out, although it might not look like this at the moment.
All of the signs that Jesus tells us to watch for, that will signal His return, are happening in real-time now: wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilence, earthquakes in diverse places are happening now, although there are some who would dispute this as being signs of His return.
Added to this we see the rise of lawlessness, the deliberate persecution of Christians world-wide and the censoring of Christian thought happening right here in the USA.
At some point He will return, although no one knows exactly when that will be. His return is what those of us who have been born-from-above, long for. We await anxiously, for His kingdom.
The scoffers, laugh at our hope and mock us taunting us with the all-to-familiar-words: Where is the promise of His coming?
One day, we will be caught up to meet Him in the air. Then, He will seat us at the Marriage super of the lamb. Afterward, we will ride with Him on flying-white-horses back to earth and see His feet touch the Mount of Olives, which will be split in two. We will watch as a sword comes from His mouth and strikes down the Beast, and the False Prophet. We will be there when He takes His throne in Jerusalem.
What we believe sounds like a fairy-tale!  Yet, all of what I mentioned is found in our Bibles. It is future. It is prophetic.
What was written will come to pass, what was foretold will unfold!

OK. So nothing happened, we didn’t get “raptured.”  A lot of folks are really dissapointed and I understand why. I want nothing more than to greet the Lord in the air. However, He’s given me a ministry and I’m going to work that until he takes me home. or I greet Him in the air. In short, keeping hand to plow!
This is why I stated very clearly and reasonably in a YOUTUBE video I made on September 22, that we are to spread the good news and destroy the works of the devil. That’s it for me. That’s the mandate, the marching orders, the prime directive, the modus operandi, the final word, the reason why I get up every morning and head to the studio.
We are told by Jesus to go out and spread the good news. In doing so we are destroying the works of the devil. It’s a simple plan and it works.
That being said. I’ve been “taken” twice. Once about 37 years ago when I first became  a Christian and then again about 8 years ago.  The last time I was getting ready to go take a shower. I suddenly found myself in a heavenly scene. As Paul states, whether in the body or out of the body I do not know. It was like that for me too.
I was there for about 3 seconds and then I returned. This is what I saw…
Second One: I was standing amidst a great host of people who stretched as far as the eye could see. We were all looking in the same direction. We weren’t squished together but there was space between the people gathered there.
Second Two: There was a holy, reverential silence that permeated the scene. No one was talking, there was not a sound. No one was questioning what had just happened and where we were. We all knew we had been raptured.
Second three: I suddenly realized, to my astonishment that my sin nature was gone. I raised my arms in a gesture of amazement and stared at my chest.  (You can’t make this up!) Then , suddenly, I was back and found myself in the bathroom.
I fell to my knees and wept. I was there, in the heavenly scene, in the air, and at some point it will happen.
We will rise to meet our King, savior and Lord in the air. It might sound like complete nonsense to a non-believer, but this is our blessed hope and as I have stated numerous times: What was written will come to pass. What was foretold will unfold.
In closing the Bun. Moving forward we should love one another as we are told by Jesus: They will know you are my disciples by the love you have for one another. We shouldn’t engage in “I told you so!” People make mistakes…
Second focus should be on destroying the works of the devil. We are immersed in a world that is perverted, unjust, cruel, blasphemous, and violent.
Then there are the signs that Jesus warned us would herald the last days i.e. the wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, famines and pestilence. We should pray about where we are to serve and then go for it with all the gusto we can muster. Even so, Maranatha.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12: 2

We are surrounded by mind-thought-pollution. We are immersed in it and we see it in the commercials, TV shows, news items, movies, and at our places work… pretty much everywhere.
We are bombarded with images, thoughts, temptations, vulgarities and every crude and rude comment, story, and coarse joke one can imagine.
This is why we are admonished by Paul to renew our minds. We do this by hitting God’s word first thing in the morning and then, throughout the day, recalling those verses. We do this by singing praise songs or recalling a Bible story or better yet, when God’s spirit, His comforter speaks to us and gives us a “word,” a check in our spirit, guiding our steps.
Paul instructs us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Transliteration: anakainósis
Phonetic Spelling: (an-ak-ah’-ee-no-sis)
Short Definition: renewing
Definition: renewing; a renewal or change of heart and life. (Emphasis mine)
It’s important to realize the tension we find ourselves living in. We are, as I stated earlier, surrounded by a world which, for the most part, doesn’t want anything to do with the things of God. So as we travel through life it’s important to embrace the tension and yet because of the daily, constant renewing of our minds, to be separate from the perversion and sin which can so easily beset us.
Paul also gives us a punch list.
Philippians 4:8, NIV: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
In other words we are to set our minds on these things. This is an act of will. We choose  the good. We choose to think about what is true, noble. right, pure, lovely, admirable and anything that is excellent or praiseworthy.
Then in Phillippians 4:9 Paul goes on and states this: Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Emphasis mine)
This is a promise of God’s peace being with us as we put into practice thinking on the punch-list in Phillippians 4:8.
Have a good week and stay close to Him who is the author and finisher of our salvation!

Hi L. A.,
very quick update.
Phil has been rediagnosed various times.
Downgraded from heart attack to embolism, to no embolism, no heart attack. Now they say it is pleurisy or pneumonia. So now antibiotics and a week in hospital. To watch the diagnosis being reduced was amazing…they were definite about the heart attack and the embolism together and now everything has changed. We are watching the power of prayer,I think.

Coming to you from an undisclosed location deep in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains.
I suppose we should just hold a continual candle-light vigil, until the second coming, because the mindless slaughter of innocents, in the name of Allah, is not going to stop….ever.
Cradle your teddy bear, light your candles, place a wreath of flowers on the blood-stained ground and repeat the mantra that you’ve been told, by the idiots in the MSM to repeat, Islam is a religion of peace.
Another bunch of Jihadi thugs, carrying out their murderous rampage, struck London yesterday. As long as countries allow the so-called immigrants and refugees into their countries these acts of terror will become so commonplace that people will begin to flee the countries they live in. But where will they go? Perhaps people should stand their ground and push back against the Jihad, radical Islam and the so-called immigrants.
Of course that would be politically incorrect and it may result in a dim-witted “comedian” acting out his or hers own Jihad against what they consider to be Islamaphobic.
Here’s what I think is really going on. All of what we see is orchestrated by the elites. They want the chaos. They revel in it. They created it in the first place. They opened the doors of Europe.
What Charles Martel fought against, at the battle of Tours, turning back the Islamic hordes, centuries ago, Merkel and others of her ilk have opened their borders and allowed free access to their countries.
This is deliberate. Out of chaos… order. In my opinion, what we are seeing is a classic Haegelian Dialectic.
The first move was 911. (oops there that pesky building 7 again!)
This sent us into Afghanistan, and gave the deep-state access to the 1 TRILLION dollar a year opium harvest. (Black budgets anyone?) This set the world into an orchestrated “chaos” where the disruption of “normal” life is now an ongoing series of suicide bombers, knife stabbings, rampaging trucks, and masked shooters gunning down innocents.
The outcome? A new world order? A global government? A new religion?
What about Chris-Lam? The merging of the two religions, Christianity and Islam, in order to bring peace. Could this be the final “leg” of the dialectic. It will be a merging of the two religions to bring about world-peace. I can hear the pundits at CNN singing Kumbaya now.
Am I out on a limb here? Perhaps. However, we know from the Book of Revelation there will be a one-world government and a one-world religion. As farfetched as it seems: what was written will come to pass. What was foretold will unfold.

When Life Hits Us with Unexpected Circumstance.

Trust in the Lord with all thy heart
and lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will 
direct your paths… Proverbs 3:5-6
A few weeks ago my editor Rose Diepstra lost her battle with cancer and passed from this world. It happened quickly and I talked to her just a week before she passed and now she’s gone.
She left behind her devoted husband, Keith and their two children. Keith and the kids and even Rose herself never saw this coming. Life hit them like a Mack truck.
A friend of mine’s wife has an aggressive brain tumor and she has maybe a year left on this earth. My friend and his wife have been married 30 years. Last night he called me and asked me what he should do. It was a hard conversation and because this friend doesn’t know Jesus I told him to go to whoever he thought God was and ask for peace and direction. It was a huge step for him to accept this. (He knows I’m a pastor)
Another friend tore his rotator cuff and has been sleeping upright in a chair for about two months.
Another, has a torn ligament in his knee.
We get emails during the week from people who have all sorts of issues. We hear about entities in the room at night, black-eyed children, and unbelievably, even centaurs.
The point I’m trying to make here is this. Trust in the Lord…. period. We have really no control over what life will throw at us and thus, our anchor should be in Christ and Him alone.
My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus Christ and righteousness

There is no other place for us to go. When life hits us with the unexpected, we lean on Jesus. We go to Jesus. We ask for mercy, grace and peace.
Though he slay me yet I will praise Him.
When King David’s son died he stated he would see his son again. This is our hope that at some point in the future He, Jesus, the creator of heaven and earth, will bring us back to him and we will see our loved ones again.
He will wipe away our tears and there will be no more sickness and death.
Think on these things. Dwell on this. Put this into our spirit man and woman. Put on Jesus and walk circumspectly knowing: He remembers our frame and knows that we are dust.

Prayer is needed.
