My Response to PITN’s Linda Church email Blasts

I am writing this as a pastor who is very concerned with the recent inflammatory emails that Linda Church and PITN have been blasting out on the Net. The Biblical Narrative states this:
Matthew 18:15-17 English Standard Version (ESV)
If Your Brother Sins Against You
15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
To the best of my knowledge, Linda Church has never talked with Bob or Gary about the “fault.” Because of this, she is in error and in need of correction. She is simply not acting within the confines of the Biblical mandate set forth in our Bibles.
She has never contacted Gary Stearman or Bob Ulrich and discussed any of the statements she assures us are true.
Because of this, her statements should be seen as nothing more than what they really are, the fruit of a bitter heart acting out in the flesh.
There needs to be mediation between Linda Church and Gary and Bob to stop the backbiting and outright lies that are being spewed out. Who is the accuser of the brethren?
I know Gary and Bob intimately and they are two of the most upright men I have ever encountered in my life. They walk the talk.
Linda Church has now gone after the short-lived host at PITN, Lynn Leahz, once again spreading inflammatory remarks far and wide.
If I knew where Linda Church attended church I would contact her pastor directly. This sort of vitriol and vituperative remarks are no better than what we see in the world and shouldn’t be coming from any so-called Christian and certainly not from someone who has been in ministry for decades.

May 18: The Anchor – Oceanside, California. Pastor Levi gave us a tour of Camp Pendleton. Peggy and I also went to a shooting range and spent some time with an AR15. Thanks to all the folks who showed up. We’ll be back next year!
May – 26 June…: ISRAEL TOUR!!! L. A. Marzulli – Mondo Gonzales (Archaeologist MS) 11 day tour.  What an amazing tour! We’re going to do it again next year! We will be posting the new itinerary soon. We made some great new friends while in Israel. Thanks to all who signed up for the tour.

Alwyas good to see pastor Pete and his lovely wifey Shirley. Met some wonderful people there and recorded some great interviews for future films!

    It is quite obvious this sister has been hurt deeply by events that could have been handled better by both parties.
    Since I wasn’t there and can only draw vague if not erroneous conclusions from letters posted. I will say this.
    We need to just SHUT UP! No more taking sides or explanations!
    The Church its message its unity is being harmed.
    Prayer for healing of both parties and the Church as a whole would be better spent Just my humble opinion.

    • My Lady! I totally agree with you. I feel sorry Let’s stop trying to defend a side. I agree with you. As a therapist and a Christian, Linda’s responses emanate a hurt that she is trying to deal with. the PW team feels that they were in the right. Their is PITN’s side, then there is the PW’s side and God knows the intents and purposes of the heart. I am praying for all involved. In my heart, I don’t care who did what to whom. Repent for the part you played in it, make it right and move on.


  2. I totally agree with L.A. on the current situation with PITN and Prophecy Watchers. In my upcoming article in the News Mag, I outline the decades of experiences I’ve had with other “Christian” TV ministries, (not PITN) and it’s a litany of problems with money, power plays, nepotism, egos, naiveté about commercial media, and more. The few that are doing exemplary work are often unfairly tainted by those who set a bad example. All this does is cause bystanders to lose confidence that any ministries, at all, can be trusted. If we are attempting to set an example for those in Hollywood who are doing high level production, (I was always hoping this could happen) this is not the way to positively affect them. Such on-going problems is why I created Pinlight in 2005, to remain independent of ministries, and try to be helpful from the sidelines. At least, that has been my hope.

    As LA pointed out in scripture, grievances need to be handled privately, in love. Not by posting them on social media that never goes away, or by involving other people’s photos who are in ministry and are completely detached from anything that might be considered wrong. Bob Ulrich and Gary Stearman are doing their best to try and create a broader viewing experience for millions of people. Bob tried and was successful in increasing PITN’s reach while working for them, while his ability and know-how radically expanded their business profits over 300%. Yet, this tremendous feat has never been conveyed, appreciated, or thanked in the same social media. But, Bob and Gary continued to function as “hired help” while assuming long hours and a lot of hard work instead of being able to grow with PITN’s ministry. In all fairness, they did nothing wrong in leaving under such conditions. No different than anyone else deciding to find new employment, which in this case they essentially had to start over without much of a safety net. When I stepped into the recent Prophecy Watchers convention, I was stunned at the visible miracle that so much could’ve happened in only four years. It was incredible — some even flying in from Europe to be there. I have no doubt God has blessed what they’re doing. The results speak for themselves.

    I wish Bob and Gary the best in their new studio venture, something that has become necessary if they are going to grow and expand their ability to produce better television. And right now, none of us know how much more time we have left to do the important things that still need to be done.

  3. This is upsetting. The problem was that 2 people thought they were “inheriting” PITN. Even Mrs. Church said her husband asked Gary to Continue the ministry but then she called it her’s. It sounds like the confusion lays at the feet of JR Church. He should have left a written directive of what was to become of PITN. Too late to change what’s now a hurtful situation between Christians. I pray for understanding and healing.

  4. Not knowing any of the details concerning your post, but knowing you (as much as I can know you from your blog and vlog posts), I trust that yours is a righteous indignation, and I pray for a God-honoring resolution to this problem.

  5. Jeez man, I just read everything on this whole situation, what ever happened to us submitting to on another in the fear of the Lord, the whole thing is just sad and they should all remember who they serve

  7. I was contacted you Linda shortly after Gary left PITN (email). I won’t go into details about the accusation but I was very upset over the whole thing. I did email back and asked if she had spoken with Gary regarding the situation. I received a terse response that was not biblically grounded so I cut ties. To be clear, I do not personally know either party. I had no idea that after all this time it was still going on. I pray our Lord brings healing and forgiveness in this situation.

  8. Amen. Even though it was very predictable, it still has been sickening to watch.

    So no one gets the wrong idea here: I made sure that I wasn’t taking a liberty at anyone’s expense before making this post.

    Gary and Bob’s handling of all of this for the past four plus years has been staggering in terms of what a Godly and classy example is of how to handle these sort of things. They are a true example to follow.

    Unfortunately, I’m more like Peter with my sword and I have to pray about that a lot.

    IRS records and such can be found in the public domain (it’s amazing what you can find) but an extremely abridged version of the truth goes like this:

    Extreme nepotism, among other things, brought PITN down. Pride, jealousy, bitterness. What people saw this past week is a sampling.

    I personally believe this is God’s hand of judgment and it’s a tip of a larger iceberg.

    Gary and Bob wouldn’t and couldn’t look away when they learned what was going on and that’s why they resigned.
