The Sunday Bun

First off, some of you might take offense at the celebration of Mother’s day and Father’s Day. Get over yourself! LOL! While these days are certainly man-made they can and in my world, do tie into the Biblical narrative. Here’s why.
We are told in Genesis: Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
So while Mother’s Day and Father’s Day in our culture is a man-made holiday, when we tie it to the Biblical narrative, it is pregnant with meaning.
Peggy and I have two children. We did our best as parents but recently I sat our family down and asked their forgiveness for not being the best Father I could have been. My kids were shocked! Then Peggy did the same.
Let’s face it none of us are perfect. There are some of you who are reading this who never had a good relationship with your earthly Father. In many cases he has passed away and all a person is left with may be bitter memories.
Here’s the key. Forgive and realize that your father was an imperfect person… just like you are.
Then, realize that we have a Father in heaven who loves us and cares for us in ways that are indescribable.
He loves us with a holy love, which burns for us….
Happy Father’s Day!
Here is a song that features Laura Forde and myself. It was recorded in the 1990’s and really never released. Enjoy. I’m going to release this song along with others soon.
