Philip goes to Azotus!

And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?” Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he preached the gospel to all the towns until he came to Caesarea.

I was reading this passage this morning and I decided to comment on it on the BLOG!

I want to call your attention to this verse: the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus,

I love it! The Holy Spirit moves Philip from one place to another, literally miles away from where Philip was with the eunuch! How does that work?

Our Bibles are full of supernatural occurrences which transcend time and space. How was Philip moved? Was some sort of vehicle used like a “divine taxi” of sorts? Was it like a star-trek transporter? LOL! (I’m kidding) Did an angel carry him from one place to another?

How long did it take to travel from one place to an other? Did time stop? Did Philip find himself instantly in Azotus or did a duration of time pass? (People back then did not have watches…!) Did Philip transcend our space-time continuum? It seems to me that he did. God is the author of time and thus has no problem transcending its bounds!

All to often we read our Bibles and fail to grasp the supernatural aspect that is found all throughout its pages.

God is still on the throne and He can move us from one place to another if He chooses to do so, just like Philip. When He shows up, everything changes.

With that in mind. Some of us may need to be re-located in our thinking, in our ministry,  in our workplace. Father God knows this and just like Philip has the power to transcend all our circumstances.

This is the God of our Bibles. This is God we serve. He is holy, might and awesome in His power.

Maranatha!
