The Absurdity of this Administration?

Ambassador StevensCommentary & Analysis

Questions swirl after Bowe Bergdahl’s release

After five years in captivity, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is free. But that’s hardly the end of the story. While the Idaho man’s friends and family and the Obama administration are hailing his release, the deal that set him free is getting heat from critics who say Bergdahl is a traitor who cost American lives and those who say the deal could cost American lives in the future.

SGT Bowe Bergdahl’s father Bob’s first words at the White House were in Arabic – those words were “bism allah alrahman alraheem” – which means “in the name of Allah the most gracious and most merciful”

Clare Lopez is a former CIA operations officer, a strategic policy and intelligence expert with a focus on Middle East, national defense, WMD, and counterterrorism issues, and a friend of former Congressman Allen West.

Allen said Claire emailed him this morning a very poignant analysis that only someone knowing language and Islam could ascertain.

She wrote: “What none of these media is reporting is that the father’s (SGT Bowe Bergdahl’s father Bob) first words at the WH were in Arabic – those words were “bism allah alrahman alraheem” – which means “in the name of Allah the most gracious and most merciful” – these are the opening words of every chapter of the Qur’an except one (the chapter of the sword – the 9th) – by uttering these words on the grounds of the WH, Bergdahl (the father) sanctified the WH and claimed it for Islam. There is no question but POTUS knows this.”

Obama: We Don’t Leave Our Men or Women in Uniform Behind

I don’t get it.  A few weeks ago we heard that what happened in Benghazi—the murder of our ambassador, as well as the brave men who defended him to their death—was two years ago and it didn’t matter anymore.  Take a good look at the picture above.  This is what happened to ambassador Stevens.  He was brutally tortured and then murdered.  Our administration tries to tell us it was because of a movie that was disrespectful to Islam.  This has now been proven to be a classic wag the dog story.  The thugs who carried out this brutality have never been brought to justice and most likely won’t because this administration doesn’t really care to pursue the atrocity that was Benghazi.

Now fast forward to the illegal prisoner swap of one of our soldiers—who may have in fact been a deserter—and five Taliban terrorists.  Obama arranged the swap without the approval of Congress.  He just acted on his own, our new Emperor Obama has no regard for procedure, he just acts on his own.  Where is the outrage from Congress?  Where is our media?  Then we have the words of Bergdahl’s father, which were in Arabic and is the traditional Islamic greeting.  What is going on here?

For Obama to state we don’t leave our men and women in uniform behind, is an affront to the families of the soldiers who died Benghazi.  Obama left the ambassador and those defending him to die in Benghazi.  I believe there was plenty of time to scramble our jets to the area, which would have more than likely stopped the attack on the embassy, which by the way was not in response to a movie!

In fact, this administration did abandon the soldiers in Benghazi.  They knew what was going on and could have acted, but didn’t.  Hilary Clinton, who was Secretary of State, gave us the double speak she is famous for.  Please remember this if she tries to run for the oval office.

In closing todays post.  We have a president who makes up his own rules.  He has defied Congress and acted on his own.  This is an impeachable offense and should be dealt with by Congress.

Unless, we the people, raise our voices this administration will continue to trample the constitution.  We are now 6 years into his presidency and the country has millions of people who are on food stamps.  Millions more are unemployed.  Obamamess continues to fall flat and our vets are dying because it’s not working and they are not getting the care they need.  We are perceived as weak and indecisive by those countries who would seek to destroy our way of life.  This latest statement by our POTUS, heralding his administration for not leaving our troops behind is beyond absurd….

  1. Obama and his White House staff will go down in history as the worst, most destructive President ever. Why McCain never pointed out that both President Obama and Michelle had to voluntarily turn over their law degrees for fraud is beyond me. I never voted for the clown but I can’t imagine he would have been elected if people knew that.

    • Richard I agree with your post 100%, however, please don’t underestimate the power of a free lunch. He would have been elected regardless of any fraud, degree or lack there of. We have a large percentage of population in this country looking for nothing but a hand out and a free ride, and Obama promised that and more. After the disastrous first 4 years I thought there would be no way anyone would vote for this “fraud”, however, I underestimated how many were on the government dole and would do anything it takes to see the government cheese continue to flow. A whopping record of 23 .3% of the nation’s total personal income in 2010 was a payment from the government and those numbers have risen since Barry’s 2nd term.

    • Obama’s “illegal presidency” ( cough, cough…hack, hack )….was bought and paid for by The Saudi’s.

  2. 1. President Obama Almost Certainly Broke the Law

President Obama did not consult Congress when making the transfer of 5 Taliban commanders at Gitmo for Bowe Bergdahl.

The Washington Post raises questions about whether the president violated the law regarding terrorism policy:

Congressional Republicans and others focused on a series of concerns that are likely to reverberate in coming days: whether the deal breached U.S. policy forbidding negotiations with terrorists, whether sufficient safeguards were in place to ensure that the released Taliban prisoners do no further harm to the United States and whether Congress was informed about the prisoner trade, as required by law.

    2. The 5 Taliban Commanders Released Were Among the Most Dangerous at Gitmo

Numerous publications note that these detained terrorists were among the worst at the facility. The Daily Beast gets to the point:

The five Guantanamo detainees released by the Obama administration in exchange for America’s last prisoner of war in Afghanistan, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, are bad guys. They are top Taliban commanders the group has tried to free for more than a decade.

According to a 2008 Pentagon dossier on Guantanamo Bay inmates, all five men released were considered to be a high risk to launch attacks against the United States and its allies if they were liberated.

    3. Soldiers Who Served with Bergdahl are Making Claims He Was a Deserter

CNN’s Jake Tapper reports that soldiers who served with Bergdahl are calling him a “deserter,” not a “hero”:

“I was pissed off then and I am even more so now with everything going on,” said former Sgt. Matt Vierkant, a member of Bergdahl’s platoon when he went missing on June 30, 2009. “Bowe Bergdahl deserted during a time of war and his fellow Americans lost their lives searching for him.”

Vierkant said Bergdahl needs to not only acknowledge his actions publicly but face a military trial for desertion under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

    4. Soldiers Who Served with Bergdahl Signed Non-Disclosure Agreements Not to Reveal What Happened

    Again, from CNN’s Jake Tapper:

Many of Bergdahl’s fellow troops — from the seven or so who knew him best in his squad, to the larger group that comprised the 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division — told CNN that they signed nondisclosure agreements agreeing to never share any information about Bergdahl’s disappearance and the efforts to recapture him.

Some were willing to dismiss that document in hopes that the truth would come out about a soldier who they now fear is being hailed as a hero, while the men who lost their lives looking for him are ignored.

    5. Bergdahl Reportedly Split Camp with Just a Few Survival Items

Jibing with what was reported earlier on IJReview, Bergdahl seemingly planned leaving his platoon carefully:

According to first-hand accounts from soldiers in his platoon, Bergdahl, while on guard duty, shed his weapons and walked off the observation post with nothing more than a compass, a knife, water, a digital camera, and a diary.

    6. Soldier Who Claims to Have Served with Bergdahl Says He Mailed His Valuables Back Mid-Tour

As reported by IJReview contributor Soopermexican, a soldier claims Bergdahl mailed back his valuables mid-tour. Going by the moniker of @CodyFNFootball, he claims about Bergdahl:

“Why would someone pack all of there [sic] belongings and send them home in the middle of a 12 month deployment? Hmmmm.”

In addition, the soldier claims that Bergdahl bought an AK-47, a highly unusual choice for a U.S. soldier.
    7. Six U.S. Soldiers Killed in Manhunt to Find the AWOL Soldier

    As reported via Gateway Pundit:

PFC Matthew Michael Martinek, Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, SSG Clayton Bowen, PFC Morris Walker, SSG Michael Murphrey, 2LT Darryn Andrews, were all KIA from our unit who died looking for Bergdahl. Many others from various units were wounded or killed while actively looking for Bergdahl.

    7. Bergdahl Reportedly Made Anti-American Statements

According to a Rolling Stone article written by the late writer Michael Hastings, Bergdahl complained about fellow soldiers and had anti-American things to say.

“I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools,” he concluded. “I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.”
    8. The Highly Unusual Behavior of Bowe Bergdahl

Also corresponding with the story reported earlier here, Bergdahl dreamed about joining the French foreign legion, had an interest in fighting warlords in Darfur in Sudan, and also said he had a desire to become a mercenary.
    9. Father Praises Allah; Has Pro-Islamic Tweets on Timeline

Regardless of what one thinks about Islam, it is quite a coincidence that Bowe’s father Robert Bergdahl’s Twitter account has pro-Islamic statements, along with tweets critical of Gitmo detainment.

At the press conference with President Obama announcing his son’s release, Robert Bergdahl said “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim” —which means “In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate.”
    10. Robert Bergdahl Deletes Extremely Suspicious Tweet

As reported by IJReview contributor Soopermexican earlier, this is what Robert Bergdahl by all appearances deleted from his timeline:
    11. CIA Station Chief in Kabul is “Outed” by the White House One Week Before Transfer

If numerous military members knew something was awry with the story about Bergdahl’s apparent capture by the Taliban, what would the CIA station chief in Kabul know? As the Washington Post reported:

The CIA’s top officer in Kabul was exposed Saturday by the White House when his name was inadvertently included on a list provided to news organizations of senior U.S. officials participating in President Obama’s surprise visit with U.S. troops.

The White House recognized the mistake and quickly issued a revised list that did not include the individual, who had been identified on the initial release as the “Chief of Station” in Kabul, a designation used by the CIA for its highest-ranking spy in a country.

It is debatable that this uneven exchange serves the U.S.’ long-term national security interests, since it encourages our enemies around the world to take more American military members hostage.

Such reports also throw into question the claim that Bergdahl was a “hero” who was “captured on the battlefield,” and there are issues surrounding this exchange that are far from settled.

  3. Note what the POTUS;
In “Audacity of Hope” he writes: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” The quote comes from page 261 of the paperback edition of “The Audacity of Hope.

  4. Questions are abounding regarding the release of Bergdahl. Is he really a traitor? Is he CIA? Controversy certainly detracting from recent committee probing into the Benghazi attacks…

Bowe Bergahl: Traitor Or Deep CI A agent?

    • Sure, the Bergdahl release is a great WH strategy to line themselves up with caring about the American Vet vs all the investigative VA medical incompetent reports, gun confiscation, resignation of Shinseki, including WH, Jay Carney’s sudden resignation because of his involvement in communism.

Bowe Bergdahl’s Past Revealed by Family Friend:

      Turmoil, turmoil, turmoil…

  5. Again, I’m seeing a website for discussions concerning one possible way we as brethren discuss the return of or Savior reduced to “Politics”. As a citizen of this great nation I am proud to say I have voted for both parties. I truly believe we are going in the direction of division we have not read about since the civil war. I will use a 4 letter word in my response; “NEWS”. How long has it been since we fairly listened to someone without an opinion? How many of us remember when we listened to someone reporting today’s events that we did not know their political preference? I feel sometimes we all are being directed from a 180 degree mindset to a central point of contention where the 360 degrees of our nation cannot meet and reach a common sense approach to a solution! I go into a church today to listen to the word and enjoy fellowship with the congregation only to witness a brother of the cloth drive their political agenda. I don’t understand all the possible reasons this young man left his company but I do believe we need to wait and here from the military tribunal that will judge him before we “Judge” without having that right. When we started into the war’s after 911 I told my ex-wife this will be another Vietnam, and I feel I was right. I also stated we will loose freedoms in the name of security, and I feel I was right. War is “HELL” to those who go and to those they leave behind. Sometimes it is necessary and sometimes we should have studied all ways to retaliate. When you loose a child that you have loved, raised, and now bury and mourn you join a club no one wants to belong too. I plead with everyone reading this to follow the directions Christ gave us. This country, one nation under God, is being manipulated. I believe as Christians we need to listen and try to understand, pray for those we do not agree with or like as we do our own family. Help those who are without as often as we can. Try to think what Christ would want us to do and say if he was with us, the way he was with his disciples. I believe this young mans father was honest in his approach to save his son and we should let Christ judge him.

    • Joshua, I would say that this country is being manipulated and it is being weakened.

The U.S., as a supporter of freedom and Israel, is contrary to the plans of Satan. I would voice the opinion that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is not Allah.

I welcome preachers voicing their political opinion, so I can see where they stand. If I disagree, I pray for enlightenment if i’m wrong, or their enlightenment if they r wrong. Lol, probably me.

I just go by the rules that all life is sacred and the bible is the absolute Truth. The Lord does the judging, i’ll do some praying.

These sociopaths have to have control, through socialism or fascism. Their low self-esteem makes them seek positions of power. Narcissism and wanting to be a deity makes them defiant. Daddy-issues can cause this issue with the Eternal Father. Satan had the ultimate Daddy issue and his minions also have a need to control. That’s my rant for today. I hope its coherent Lol.

    • This country is being stolen right out form under us…only the weak crawl in a corner to wait and see what happens next. That’s exactly want they want you to do, don’t make waves, just wait and see, trust us WE have a plan, Unfortunately hiding away is not an option anyone that cares about their country can afford right now,as by the time you finally wake up, the country and life you remembered has been forever changed, as you sat idlly by and watched it happened.

  6. Colonel David Hunt told Bill O’Reilly tonight that Bowe Bergdahl was a deserter.

“Bowe Bergdahl was a deserter. Bergdahl on June 20, 2009 crawled underneath a wire at his fire base with water, food, a change of clothes, a knife and a cell phone. He called his unit the day after he deserted to tell his unit he deserted… Bill, we lost 14 soldiers, killed, searching for a deserter. He left his unit in combat. It’s non-arguable… We don’t know yet if he joined the Taliban or not. But, there’s no question he deserted.

  7. As the late J.R. once said, “I blame the American people. They are the ones who put a Muslim in the White House.” J.R. always called them like he saw them.
Thank L.A. for telling the truth about this. Will we even last another 2 1/2 years under this president? This fall vote for Godly men and women who will stand up to this evil that sits in our nation’s capital and remove him from office. “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” indeed.

    • I don’t think it was the American people who put Obama in the White House. I think it has been a long time since a president wasn’t chosen by a powerful few and maneuvered into office.

    • Peter, brother, it’s not a good thing to judge your “success” by worldly measures.

      a. Where did Paul die? How long was he in prison?
      b. What about Stephen? James? Peter? John?

Nor should we let feelings be a gage of Abba’s love. Consider Job.
      – faith in Christ is our shield, as our Chief Apostle and High Priest — He intercedes of each of us
      – I’m keying on feelings vs. faith very specifically since it’s those demonic lies that carry the infection of self condemnation
      – and the shield of faith is how to deflect or blunt them
      – simply snatch that dart out of mid-thought and turn to Abba (our Heavenly Father) and give it to Him

I’ve seen pastors go through all kinds of trouble
      – simply because they need to know how to help others get through such things
      – as a pastor they need to know how to council others and especially families
      – so they’re not going to be spared working through trouble
      – it’s better when you learn helping others get through there troubles than first hand

So what would you expect the exercises and expertise to be of those that become (or are)…
      – evangelists (give the Gospel definitely … cp. Russ Dizdar — while helping folks out of the clutches of hell)
      – prophets (preachers)
      – pastors (counselors)
      – teachers (coaches practice or practical of the Biblical lectures of preaching God’s ways of doing things)
      – apostles (priests)
      – deacons (servants like administrators)
      – elders (well experienced in these other areas, provide council as a group)

There are no easy ways. There’s no skipping grades. Abba will make us repeat the course plenty till we get it.

Consider Job — he finally quit complaining about being treated unfairly.
Interesting since he was doing graduate studies — and ready (almost) to deal with a direct encounter with the devil.

Brother Job overcame when he listened (rather than gripe about unfair treatment) and got that God’s way is that of The Creator
      — He knows exactly how much we can take and how much to discipline
      — very like a therapy coach … healing for a broken spirit takes therapy
… and doesn’t mean getting to avoid therapy to regain ability

I suggested the Russian Bible for your mum
      – because our first language moves our hearts
      – and she can listen to more than just the New Testament

You’re right though and that’s very interesting to watch
      – you’ll learn Russian more fluently just by osmosis almost
      – listening to the Bible in Russian
      – and it’s really good you’ve lived with a native speaker
      – it’s also wonderful that the more you listen (with understanding)
      – the more The Word becomes part of you
      – and comes back in due season, from all the seeds planted
      – and that’s what you need to resist the devil
      – remember when Christ was tempted and how that went

More Word and more discussion with Abba (turn and give those fiery darts to Him)
      — stronger armor
      — more growing into the full stature of Christ
      — ps. don’t try doing things without Him on your own

By the Word of their Testimony [means getting through tough times]
By the Blood of the Lamb [because Y’shua saves … that’s Helm]
And they loved not their own lives unto death … [don’t be surprised that you hate this world]

Love the sinner — hate the sin
Die to self daily [caring for others means not being selfish or indifferent]
Pick up the Cross … follow Christ [overcoming the world, the flesh, and the devil]

Remember Job cried for far too many chapters listening to sorry “friends”
      – and wondering what he’d done wrong
      – instead of going through the exercise and overcoming
      – ps. a martyr’s death is not only graduation
      – they get to go through graduate courses
      – ruling with Christ when this world is full of fallen angels

Indeed, the best description I can make of this earth is as a prison for the damned
      – no surprise we hate it
      – and love helping the lost escape through Christ

pps. And yes that goes doubly for America.(reaping in full measure as sown)

The Kingdom of Heaven and New Jerusalem
      – now there is wonder, beauty, and perfection !!!
      – definitely not of this world

    • Bruce, et al, I posted here in error. I’m definitely not trying to hijack this thread.

My response to Peter’s comment yesterday should have been in a separate thread.

    • Rose, couldn’t agree more!! Anyone that thinks “we the people” elect the President of this country, are truly deceived.

Chuck Missler is a man that would know, having been involved with high levels of Gov. with top secret clearances.

this whole thing Stinks to high heavens!( Bilderbergers, CFR, and the Banksters and oh yea Rothschild’s).IMHO

  8. I find drudge to be cryptic at times, you have to look at some articles the way in which they stand out: like this one his quote on his page: Pastor warns ‘terminal generation’ to be ‘prepared’

    a quote from the link:
“We’re the generation that needs to be prepared to meet Jesus Christ,” he said in a telephone interview from his home.

Jesus Christ is coming soon — suddenly and silently — to “rapture” his church; the anti-Christ will ascend to dominate world power and the wrath of God will be unleashed upon sinful man during the tribulation period, he said.

“This book is an instruction manual covering the things to come in our life time and also a survival manual of protection and preparation,” he said. “Be prepared and don’t be left behind.”

Courson said that, prior to the Rapture when the righteous and innocents are taken away, certain things will happen, and we’re seeing those now: a falling away from religion, as people become consumed by the busyness of the world; wars, famine and pestilence; an indifference to the plight of the poor, helpless and homeless; and cosmic disturbances, such as lunar and solar eclipses this year and next.

    • oops, I forgot to put quotes around the link:
Don’t know if you can see the comment I made above, but here’s part:
I find drudge to be cryptic at times, you have to look at some articles the way in which they stand out: like this one his quote on his page: Pastor warns ‘terminal generation’ to be ‘prepared’

  9. Makes me wonder. If he did leave his post with a change of clothes and a cell phone, had he comitted his life to a different cause prior? Something is not right. Reminds me of the HBO show Homeland.

  10. Interesting, in the other news above:

    Rabi Kaduri & the Messiah?

    Related to this ministry: “”

I must say I am always a bit sceptical about such claims such as this: DEATHBED REVELATION SPARKS MAJOR REVIVAL

Anyway I am encouraged by this:

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
    Revelation 3:20

With a little more searching I came upon this related video:

  11. Obama should be impeached for providing willful assistance to the enemy; i.e. releasing the 5 scum-bag muslim terrorists. Bergdahl went AWOL, after 30 days he was a deserter and he also aided the enemy.
He was ashamed to be an American. Wrote a letter stating he was denouncing his citizenship and went to go join the Taliban. His unit loses six men looking for his deserting backside and in 2010 the Pentagon says he deserted. The last time the WH briefed Congress on the case was in 2011 and even though Obama found time to get the deserters Taliban loving father to the rose garden he didn’t have time to call Congress as the law demanded. And apparently the brain trust in the WH thought trading a potential traitor for five high level Taliban commanders was a great idea. How exactly was this not the stupidest thing done by Obama so far in 2014?
The fact is, Taliban usually does not take prisoners. They behead them and drag them through the streets, unless of course the deserter praises Allah and joins them in their jihad. Once the pot was sweet enough they trade their future bomber to the US for 5 of their top generals.
Plus it seems, not many in the media is reporting that the father’s (SGT Bowe Bergdahl’s father Bob) first words at the WH were in Arabic, those words were “bism allah alrahman alraheem” which means “in the name of Allah the most gracious and most merciful” these are the opening words of every chapter of the Qur’an.

The facts are; Bergdahl deserted his post in a time of war, looking to meet the Taliban, and men died looking for him.

Here are six good American soldiers who died trying to find him:

SSGT Clayton Bowen, 29, San Antonio, Texas

PFC Morris Walker, 23, Chapel Hill, N.C.

SSGT Kurt Curtiss, 27, Murray, Utah

2LT Darryn Andrews, 34, Dallas, Texas

SSGT Michael Murphrey, 25, Snyder, Texas

PFC Matthew Martinek, 20, DeKalb, Ill.

These are the REAL HEROES – Barry should be inviting their parents and relatives to OUR White House to honor them. Obama is a disgrace, and his administration has proven itself again and again as the perfect ship of fools….but what else is new?

    • The news is now reporting that those in Bergdahl unit said he was actively looking for someone in the Taliban that spoke English…and soon after the attacks by the Taliban on US targets had pinpoint accuracy and precision, as if they knew exactly when and where the US forces would be.
I feel there is no doubt, (if there is no attempted cover up by the Obama Administration), you will see that Bergdahl is a traitor that he aided and abetted the Taliban.

Send him to Russia and let him share a room with the other traitor Snowden…oh that’s right, reports are Snowden wants to come back to the US…I guess Russian cuisine doesn’t agree with him…well there’s always Vodka. They can both rot where they are far as I’m concerned.

  12. This is off topic, but yesterday we mentioned Walt Disney. My point was that he wouldn’t be proud of his studio’s current output. Though he may have had another side and sometimes not so honorable motives, his studio did produce some entertaining family movies. Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson, Davey Crockett, etc. This cartoon that I have linked to, is interesting, in that the pentagram is often mentioned.

My question is this. At 22:15 or so into the cartoon, they show the inside of Donald’s brain. One of the file cabinets, in his head, is labeled “dead”-something or other? I’m just curious if someone knows what that says?

The cartoon does quote Galileo as saying, “Mathematics is the alphabet with which God has written the universe”. Lol, I don’t really expect anyone to take the time to watch the whole cartoon, unless they are really bored.

    • John T, if you haven’t seen Saving Mr. Banks yet, I feel you would enjoyed it. It is a true story and a very good film.
The story is about when Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ Mary Poppins (1964), he made them a promise, one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation. For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp. It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.
I thought this was a great film, and although Mr. Disney’s life is now surrounded by controversy due to smothering PC politics, I feel this comes pretty close to the kind of man he was.

    • Matt, that’s funny you brought that up. I was just reading that Dick Van Dyke is 88 and still working. He was always a joy to watch perform. And the Sherman brothers were so prolific. I believe they wrote the songs for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang also, though not a Disney movie. Saving Mr. Banks sounds like a homage to a magical era in films. Though I always preferred the Bugs Bunny warner brothers cartoon shorts, the Disney full-length movies were part of growing up.

It is strange, a while back, the Disney channel broadcast “Vault Disney” late at night, now, the older stuff is nowhere to be seen. I have a Hardy Boys boxset that my little boy didn’t want to watch, then he got hooked and watched each little segment of the story. Like the Hardy Boys, so much of the studios work was adaptions of quality works of literature. Sunday night and the Wonderful World of Disney was a staple at our house.

We’ll have to check out Saving Mr. Banks. Anything that doesn’t glorify dark themes, and contain veiled references portraying the fallen ones as victims, sounds promising. Thanks for the tip.

    • Nome, you are good. I didn’t have the foggiest idea what that read. I will have to check out the idiom dictionary. Never to old to learn. Did you see that Cris Putman has a new book. Your Eze quote made me think of it.

    • John, I’ve listened to an interview or two of Cris Putnam on the new book. Probably VFTB. As Tom Horn & company often do, they put chapters up on raiders…. It’s hard for me to slow down enough to read books anymore — but the whole premise is interesting. “” look down the left side for links to the chapters … quite gracious and a good way to error correct before print.

As for catching an intentional smudge… for me (bit aspie) it stuck out like a zero. And so becomes a visual pun – the phrase reflects the meaning. Smudged letters get stuck. Also funny that the illegible part is likely due to a very faintly rendered cobweb. Admittedly a bit of conjecture on the web part….

As for CP’s premise in the youtube, in that mystery babylon sits on waters, which includes peoples… (Rev. 17:15), then the 4 angels bound in the waters of the Euphrates (Rev.9:13-16, 6th Trumpet) might be those fallen that dwell in the midst of the peoples of that region. When released(?), they openly manifest as super(natural) humans, or hybrid armies

      …horsemen, horses, lions, serpents

Possibly even those 4 correspond to:
      3 murders (mars-god)
      4 sorceries (mercury-god)
      5 fornications (adulteries … jupiter-god)
      6 thefts (venus-god)

    • John T, I want to assure you Saving Mr. Banks is a family friendly film…nothing in it that anyone wouldn’t want to watch in front of their children, mom, and dad or ….spouse. So there wont be a no reason to blurt out, “hey!! who wants popcorn”? during any scenes in the film.
Plus wonderful actor Emma Thompson from many films, such as Nanny McPhee stars in it, and of course Tom Hanks as Mr Disney.

The entertainment industry recently had a poll on the “Top 10 Worst Fake Accents in Film” and wouldn’t you know it Mr. Dick Van Dyke was No. 2 for Mary Poppins. (Only beaten out by Sean Connery’s atrocious Irish lilt as cop Jim Malone in The Untouchables) In fact,Van Dyke’s attempt at a cockney accent has been decried as one of the worst accents in film history, cited by actors since as an example of how NOT to sound.
The funny part about it is, according to Van Dyke, his accent coach the studio hired to help him with the accent was Irish.
Van Dyke said “ he didn’t do the accent any better than I did”.

    • I bought “Saving Mr. Banks.” It is an excellent film, but the first part was hard to watch because it is so terribly sad and painful. P.L. Travers was a brilliant and very lonely woman because of her warped outlook on life. Disney epitomized the American Dream, as was, and told a very sad story of his own.

It reminded me of Emma Thompson’s “Nannie McPhee” as an adaptation of Christianna Brand’s “Nurse Matilda” stories, however it is darker.

We in this country have forgotten what it’s like to be in really hard times (although we’re about to remember); this movie reveals some of the fall out.

Nome, This Is Brazil S01E05 has been posted.

    • Good morning to you all, on this thread! 🙂

Nome, that was a good cartoon (about slang) to start off the day, after yesterday’s heavy topic by L.A. Now back to some work.

    • Good morning, Linda. 🙂

I remember reading an interview with Dick Van Dyke. He was asked who his toughest audience was and he answered his fifth grade Sunday school class. He has taught Sunday school to fifth grade boys for several decades.

  13. Peter please see the above response to you that I misplaced in Bruce’s comment.
