EU oil embargo on Iran takes effect. Gulf braced for backlash, Hormuz closure

DEBKAfile Special Report July 1, 2012, 9:58 AM (GMT+02:00)

EU oil embargo on Iran takes effect. Gulf braced for backlash, Hormuz closure

While not anticipating full-scale war, they are acutely apprehensive of possible Iranian strikes against Gulf oil fields, export terminals, pipelines or tankers either by covert Al Qods Brigades squads or local Shiite saboteurs.
Tehran has repeatedly threatened to treat an oil embargo as an act of war and close the strategic Strait of Hormuz to Gulf shipping in response.

Matthew 24:  When you see these things begin to happen, look up for your redemption is coming soon.

This Bun will be different from the other that I have posted over the years, for the oil embargo that is being imposed on Iran, may act as the tipping point for WWIII.  I posted my article last year in which I warned that Iran has one strategic, offensive, military option and that is to close the Strait of Hormuz.  With the latest embargo targeting the Islamic state we will keep an eye on developments in the Middle East, as I don’t believe the Mullah’s are going to sit back and do nothing.  With that in ming here is the prophecy that the Prophet Jeremiah wrote thousands of years ago.  It seems very applicable to what is happening today, you be the judge….

This post was forwarded to me by Watchman, Steve Waffle.  Thanks Steve!

(Elam was an ancient civilization centered in the far west and southwest of modern-day Iran, stretching from the lowlands of what is now Khuzestan and Ilam Province, as well as a small part of southern Iraq.)

Jeremiah 49 – Prophesy of Elam(Iran)

JEREMIAH 49:34-39

Prophecy against Elam

34 That which came as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying:

35 “Thus says the LORD of hosts,
‘Behold, I am going to break the bow of Elam,
The finest of their might.
36 ‘I will bring upon Elam the four winds
From the four ends of heaven,
And will scatter them to all these winds;
And there will be no nation
To which the outcasts of Elam will not go.
37 ‘So I will shatter Elam before their enemies
And before those who seek their lives;
And I will bring calamity upon them,
Even My fierce anger,’ declares the LORD,
‘And I will send out the sword after them
Until I have consumed them.
38 ‘Then I will set My throne in Elam
And destroy out of it king and princes,’
Declares the LORD.
39 ‘But it will come about in the last days
That I will restore the fortunes of Elam,’”
Declares the LORD.

    Makes my head hurt!

  3. Obviously Jeremiah 49 was already fulfilled, for you can not have Iranians being scattered all over the globe as a result of judgement and then have them regathered to take place in the Gog/Magog battle of Ezekiel 38-39! In addition, you can not have the Lord God grant the Israeli Defense Force a mighty victory against their surrounding enemies in Psalm 83 resulting in expanded borders and great prosperity (Bill Salus/Isralestine), then have the same Lord God gather an even greater coalition against his people Israel for profaning his Holy Name! It appears some scholars today are just pulling prophetic passages out the Bible and seeking to create their own version of its perceived fulfillment! That is a shame!

      Please see:

      John McTernan quote:
The context of Jeremiah 49 is judgment on nations that will be fulfilled during the Day of the LORD. The judgment against Elam was not fulfilled but will be in the future. The prophecy speaks of the people being driven off the land and scattered into all the world. This has never happened in recorded history. It also speaks of the God of Israel setting His throne in Elam. This has never happened. This is all future because this prophecy was never fulfilled. It appears that with Elam now the focus of world attention, God is about to fulfill it.

Maybe they will be scattered due to the impending radiation?

    • Christine C. said

I believe that it’s the nuclear facility there in the ancient land of Elam, that is expected to be destroyed by someone–Israel, the US, or whomever–and, that will contaminate the land to the point at which all inhabitants of that area within the current country of Iran, will need to leave–they will scatter to the 4 winds, to set up house elsewhere away from the radiation dangers–I wouldn’t discount Bill Salus’s interpretation of events just yet–in fact, I think he is going to be proven more right than not, in the end–God is only going to pull Gog to invade Israel, not give the prince of MaGog the idea to invade her–God knows Gog-MaGog wants to invade Israel to take a ‘plunder/spoil’–to steal what they have–so, God wants the timing to be HIS, not theirs–when they do move to invade Israel, He destroys them, Himself–things do fit together better than most might think, where Psalm 83, and Ezekiel 38 are concerned–how they do seems to be coming to light more every day.

  4. Psalm 83 exists as a prayer for divine intervention that will find fulfillment during the Gog/Magog battle of Ezekiel 38/39! There really needs to be accountability in the Church today with all the fables being circulated in Christian book stores and advertised and sold on various prophecy forums!

Derek Gilbert wrote on his VFTB facebook on 6-30…

I had a fascinating conversation yesterday with sci-fi author, director and producer Marc Scott Zicree about his forthcoming project “Space Command”. We also got into the subject of how sci-fi communicates worldview and the appeal the genre holds for people looking for meaning in life. That will be posted tomorrow (7/1).

Tomorrow, I talk with Guy Malone of AlienResistance.org about the UFO phenomenon and why it has been hijacked in Christian circles recently by a family quarrel over whether or not the Nephilim are coming back. That will be posted July 8.

If as Derek puts it, there are “family quarrels,” then the attitude needs to be that of reconciliation.

      2 Corinthians 5
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Hey Rodney I don’t understand what you mean when you say: “There really needs to be accountability in the Church today with all the fables being circulated in Christian book stores and advertised and sold on various prophecy forums!” Is this because you think that people are just coming up with their own ideas and running with it? Or do you think that someone needs to moderate what’s being printed and what is not being printed? Please explain, Thank you☻

    • ghillie said

Hello Rodney, I don’t believe in the Prosperity Gospel and with regards to all the different viewpoints on Prophecy, Nephilim etc I think having many viewpoints is a good thing. We can be prepared for anything, i.e. any variation of possible events. Just trust in the Lord Jesus as our God and Savior and follow his leading. As L.A. says , it will all one day become self evident. I can see no harm in putting forward various ideas about Biblical prophecy.

Why is the discussion about UFO’s ,Nephilim etc being described as being “highjacked”. There are just different viewpoints. At one end of the discussion you have those who believe that UFO’s are purely a spiritual, non material manifestation and that Alien Abductions take place in the mind. At the other end are those who believe in “Nuts and Bolts” solid UFO”s and literal bodily Abductions. Also, some of the latter group believe that what is occurring also can include aspects of both viewpoints. The first viewpoint [ happening in the mind] appears to be the most dogmatic and it was a prominent member of this group that L.A. says ” ruffled his feathers” by telling him that they believed he would come over to their way of thinking.

The “happening in the mind group” often quote the scripture ” we do not struggle against flesh and blood etc”. I wonder what the Jewish victims of the Holocaust would have thought if this was quoted to them as they were being herded into the gas chambers. The verse of course means that the originators of evil are fallen spirits. However they have their physical agents as well.

    • nomemoleste said

Hey Ghillie, firmly in the “both” camp myself.

It’s worth adding that a better word for the disguises that the enemy uses is camouflage. They’ve learned the hard way to hide behind a fog of delusions.

It’s pretty obvious from later comments that RD wants to limit discussions to matters involving Israel if I read him right. Likely prompted by a sense of urgency from what may seem like impending doom and rescue. Something like saying “Look look, the fire is over here … nothing else matters.”

If so then “multiple viewpoints” possibly even including “sharing the gospel” and “loving others” seem like distractions. Of course, he can respond to my observation directly if I’m mistaken.

  5. Bernadette said

Hey LA have you heard of this guy yet? He’s from the Gov. and supposedly in July he’s coming out with the truth about UFOs for the Russian and American Governments.

He’s trying to make it sound like believing in UFOs is what the Gov wants us to do but all along it’s been highly developed areplanes that they’ve made. Can you believe it?
What will the liars think of next?

    • The fables I refer too are many, those being carried forth by Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, Bill Salus, Walid Shoebat, and Joel Richardson! There exists many others who preach a false gospel of prosperity to compell believers to seek the wealth of this world equating it to an example of holy living and favor of God! There exists no accountability of these self proclaimed scholars that continue to peddle their merchandise to babes still desiring milk rather than the meat of the Word! These are easily manipulated by these merchants of false doctrine!

I believe many of us in the US have been given a direct warning with the power outages and extreme temperatures about what it will be like as a result of war — especially in DC.

No power means no gas, not atms, no shopping….

I suspect this US administration in particular is a false friend concerning Israel. There’s a price to pay for interfering in the judgments of God in the mid-east.

“Stand still” means “stand still” voluntarily — or otherwise.

Sheesh, we better make sure our car doors are always locked just in case. Never know when someone’s going to go nuts now-a-days!

  8. Looks like major disagreement about the meaning of this scripture passage on Elam.. Happened in the past? Has something to do with Salus-preached prosperity in Israel, which is agree on by several prominent teachers? Prosperity preaching is wrong? Total confusion here in my mind. Don’t get it.

    • Ally said

When prosperity preaching becomes the major focus or only focus, yes it becomes an idil. Lovers of money. If its included in a small way, its pribably ok. When it rips off the sheep to prosper the pastors massively, I think its clearly wrong. But hey, who am I to decide? Lol! Will be interesting to see Jesus on judgement day asking saud preachers why they let rheir brethern starve and languish. they better enjoy their greedy eartly things now because its gonna be ugly. Do you think they might say something like “Lord,Lord, but we cast out demons in your name!” And he might reply with “I knew you not” my my my.

  9. I guess Nomoleste is correct, this prophecy has not been fulfilled.

  10. Greece conquered this particular area of Persia long ago and scattered Elam!

    • Ally said

Hi Rodney, being no world scholar I cant say it did or didnt. However we both can agree that God’s thrown is not there yet. I find it interesting that you put haters of Israel with lovers of Israel and then say rhe are the same. We all have Bibles, we can all read. A lot of erroneus beliefs come from whatever denomination you were raised in or what you have read elsewhere etc. remember we all see through a mirror dimly. And frankly its about Christ and Christ alone, right?
So try not to get to worked up about it. For instance we have pretrib, midtrib, posttrib, pantrib etc believers here. We dont argue about it. When the trumpet blows,we are outta here. When does that happen? Not even Jesus knows. So how can we argue about something Jesus doesnt even know?
Yes, its important to have sound doctrine. And study to show ourselves approved. But this is somewhat an ind_vidual journey and there are so many false teachers. But the Holy Spirit is good!

    • Ally, what is erroneus about what I have written? Are you saying America and Europe love Israel as they compell them to divide the Land to their enemies! What America and Europe offer Israel is nothing more than a revised form of the “Final Solution” proposed by Hitler, yet it is cleverly disguised in diplomacy such as the Road Map! The Lord God will judge all nations for and I quote (Parting my Land-Joel 3:2)! Perhaps it is your particular view that is erroneus!

    • moonpieeyes said

I have a question, any one. Has Israel been totally, 100% restored to the Israel of the Old Testament? If so,why is there Gaza carved out of it? Why the conflict over the Jewish people settling the West bank? I see the boarders on the map, but the land is not totally inhabited by the Jews? (I know, I know, it’s really just a family feud. Hatfield and McCoy only mid-east style).

And as far as America and Europe dividing Israel, it was and will always be a few politicians who get the ‘big head’ and shove their ideas down others throats, just as Hitler did. And the blind follow the blind. There will ALWAYS be wolves in sheep clothing among us. And is it when there is peace, that’s when the #$@& really hits the fan?

I think God still has a few gourds to thump to get peoples attention. God did say few would find the narrow path, so most of our views might be erroneous?

    Thanks all.

  12. I hate to say it it’s July 1st as of today and it seems things are quickly approaching, just remember the 9th of Ave is fastly approaching. I couldn’t agree with L.A any more on this topic. we need to be praying.

    • Ally said

Moonpieyes, yeah between praying and reading and looking at all the signs-me no sleepie either!
Rodney-i didnt mention any of the stuff you are talking about. And no stauncher friend to Israel than I!!! Im no idiot. Lol. While some of the Bible might be confusing, the clearcut command to love and protect Israel or else, is pretty simple to understand and follow!! And I do. I fumble a lot in other areas but that one I got down pretty well!

And now we return you to the confrontation in the mid-east… by way of Hal Lindsay.

Just for the record, I can’t tell that US sanctions ever did much of anything against Cuba. Just political theater, which means distraction.

  15. This is a comment I left for L.A. on his article covering the Muslim Brotherhood elections in Egypt on June 26:

L.A. I will go a step further and suggest that Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, and Ezekiel 38-39 are one, and I can prove it! Though many scholars suggest the nations identified in Psalm 83 currently surrounding Israel are not included in the Gog/Magog battle, perhaps it would be good for them to consider Ezekiel 38:21, “And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains (borders of Israel) saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother”. This identifies that the enemies currently bordering Israel will slay each other as current Sunni/Shia conflict finds an end on the mountains of Israel! Isaiah 17 identifies the destruction of Damascus as a ruinous heap causing the nations to recognize the authority and power of the Lord God, not an Israeli nuclear weapon! “At that day shall a man look to his Maker and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel”-Isaiah 17:7. What could cause such destruction and recognition of the awesome power of God Almighty? Consider Ezekiel 38:19,20 which documents a devastating earthquake that will violently shake the Land of Israel, yet the epicenter is directed against the primary forces of Gog/Magog positioned at the northern border of Israel. Where could such a large force assemble? Where will they fall? Ezekiel identifies they will fall in an open field (Ezekiel 39:5), my belief is that this field is located in the ancient Plain of Bashan in southern Syria adjacent to Damascus and the Israeli held Golan Heights! Current events identify that the Lord is presently gathering many forces to Syria, yet this my friends is only the beginning, many more will yet be gathered as the West faces off against China, Iran, and Russia as they seek to prevent military intervention against Syria! Look at the current allignments, then examine the prophecy of Ezekiel 38-39, those being gathered do not have to be strategically linked, in fact many are in opposition yet the Lord will fulfill his purpose!

  16. The Russian leader (Gog) does not have the evil thought enter his mind to invade Israel until these various nations currently being hooked by the Lord God and dragged to the borders of Israel are gathered together! Western Europe, United States of America (Tarshish, young lions thereof), Sunni Arab allies (Sheba and Dedan), are currently formed together in alliance. Libya and Egypt are united under the Muslim Brotherhood as well as Turkey. These stand in opposition to Syria, Russia, Iran, China and many of the S.C.O. or Shanghai Cooperation Organization nations! All these parties are currently being dragged into conflict along the northern borders of Israel! The time is quickly approaching where the West and their allies will see the Gog/Magog invasion force assemble to invade the “Unwalled Villages” or Jewish Settlements of the northern Gallilee while Israel is slumbering (at rest) confident in their military might and diplomacy for their security. What Israel has neglected to understand is that only God provides security as Ezekiel 39:7 clearly identifies that at the time of the invasion, Israel does not know or recognize the authority of the Lord God for they willingly profane his Holy Name to their shame and obviously do not know him, yet soon Israel and all nations shall know him in the day in which he will be glorified!

      Great summary.

    • ghillie said

Hi Rodney, your comments are noted and appreciated but you definitely haven’t proven anything but only added to the very long list of possibilities. Not everyone will share your interpretation of events. I can’t see why “mountains” in Ezekiel 38:2l should be interpreted as “borders”.

    • Ghillie, that is a rather peculiar reply,it is also quite interesting that I have not seen you bring anything at all to the table! My interpretation of these biblical events are not based on speculation but factual information derived from the scriptures themselves! Sounds like your motivation here was out of envy!

    • ghillie said

Hi Rodney, I’m not envious and I’ve been called peculiar before. I’m just saying that Psalm 83 or Ezekiel 38 could occur next and we’re all sure to be a bit surprised at the actual unfolding of events i.e. the finer details.

  17. I have seen many comments about ‘possession’ and about under the influence of a demon or acting ‘under the influence’ of such a demon. We’ve also discussed at length whether this ‘people’ will do this or that. If we carry the understanding of scripture to just a person we can understand this: a person who is acting by faith will ‘see and understand’ what God is doing by that faith. An ignorant person of the truth will also fulfill God’s plan, whether by delusion of some agenda or purpose or by willful or unwillful ignorance, they also will fulfill God’s plan, but be ignorant of God’s hand in it. In either case the Lord is proven in His ways and by providence both fulfill God’s plan. Prophecy and the prophetic is circular and not linear. It is only linear to those who are looking at their immediate surroundings. Isaiah 9:10-11 was clearly fulfilled before and was an anti-type to that also which had happened before and yet we see that it was fulfilled again at 9/11 (see The Harbinger by Jonathan Cahn). How many could have foretold that event before it was played out as it has? Who would have heard or believed someone who had laid it out so plainly BEFORE it happened? My point is this: We walk by faith in righteousness and see God’s hand and are used by Him to complete His plan and can KNOW as it transpires and understand OR we can walk in ignorance and sin and still fulfill His plan and no nothing of what God is doing by walking in confusion. Whether by faith or by sin “All things work together for the good of those who love Him towards those who are called according to His purpose.” Either know Him and understand or disobey and be ignorant, both will fulfill God’s plan through providence. Just a thought

    • Linda said

I read an article at Worldview/Brannon Howse explaining the error and bad interpretation re. the Harbinger. I thought it sounded incredible until I read that article!

    • If you do not research the subject yourself and see that it was right on the money then no amount of scripture or wonders done by our Lord will suffice.

    • Christine C. said

I’m sorry–I honestly know very little about Bill Salus, and if he is like Rick Warren, then I’m shocked, because, from what I do know of his work, he definitely does not seem to be ‘riches’ oriented or new age at all–I do however honestly believe he has probably nailed Psalm 83′s prayer for help from God for Israel, and don’t believe God has answered Asaph’s pleas for help as yet–whether Psalm 83 does fit in with Ezekiel’s 38 account of God-MaGog, I’d have to say perhaps–maybe they do occur together at the same time–that is something I had not considered before–but, as has been stated, most of us are not biblical scholars, but born again believers in Christ, who love Him, and have been made more aware of what’s going with the end time’s fulfillment of God’s prophecies by the Lord, Himself, I believe, and are doing our best to sort through all of the many differing viewpoints, and maybe, with help from God’s Holy Spirit, many of us will come pretty close to doing just that–

–but, whoever said that the important thing is Christ, and our love for Him, and His command to us to love one another, is so right about that–so, we can disagree, but we need to remember to do so ‘agreeably’, for His sake, as well as our own–I’ve been called an ‘old hen’ by another believer who didn’t like my views on something associated with this type of thing, and it hurts to be maligned, but more so by a fellow brethren of the Lord’s–so, I’ll just bow out and do more research, more reading, and more listening–along with more praying–before I say another word to anyone on the subject of end times prophecy–God’s blessings to all.:)
