Life is Fragile…

Today is Friday and it will be my last day on the East Coast spent with my aging parents. We had a woman from Angel Companions come in yesterday and she helped out with the daily routine of getting my Dad showered and dressed and fed. My brother and I have set this in place hoping that it will help ease the strain on my mothers 24 hour care of my father. For the record, my wife and I offered our home to my parents, to come and live with us, but my mother refused the offer… she’s the most stubborn person I have ever met!
We spent Wednesday night in the emergency room as my Mom was blocked up again and in much pain. While there I witnessed the death of a woman directly across the hallway – my Mom and Dad were oblivious to what was going on – and the scene could have come out of a movie as a doctor tried to get the woman’s heart to start beating again but was unable to do so. It reminded me of the opening scene in my novel Nephilim, except that it was real. The daughter rushed out of the room sobbing bitterly. It was a very, very, intense situation and when it was over, the doctors and nurses filed silently out of the room and closed the door behind them…
Life is fragile. We take it for granted. Our lungs “breathe” by themselves, and our hearts pump life through our veins and we never give it a second thought. We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made.
Life is a gift, not an evolutionary accident. It is precious and it begins at conception. We spend our lives on this blue planet, in the middle of who knows where. Our philosophers try to grapple with the questions of our origins and Darwinists tell us that life is an accident, an end result of millions of years of a series of random accidents which produced human beings. Balderdash!
When I was in the doctors office I studied the cross section of a human heart on the wall and I marveled at its intricacy. A nurse was attending my mother and I said, “we are fearfully and wonderfully made.” The nurse turned and smiled at me and said, “Amen.”
We are caught in a system that was put in place thousands of years ago when Adam and Eve lost their inheritance in the garden. When it was stolen from them and us, when the Fallen One, the Serpent, told Eve the lie, that she would be like God and her eyes would be opened, and Eve believed it. The Fallen One has ruled this planet ever since and he has sought to enslave, destroy, rob and kill. He delights in death and destruction and will stop at nothing to attain those goals. However, one man came in the name of the Most High God and destroyed the Fallen Ones works and He did this when he laid down His life as a ransom for many. Yashua/Jesus’ death and atonement on Cavalry was a game changer. It brought about the end of the Fallen Ones kingdom. He is coming back soon, to claim that kingdom, as the signs of His coming are all around us. He will set up His kingdom and the Fallen Ones system of greed, war, death, and destruction will no longer be in place. This is our blessed hope, what those of us who know, the one that was sent, cling to.
In closing today’s post: Life is a gift. Our souls reside in these shells of human flesh and we will one day pass from this life into the next, or as some of us hope, we will be taken, raptured from this place, and rise to meet the one who we love, even though we have not seen Him, in the air. Comfort one another with these words….
