Sunday Go to Meeting Bun!
L. A. Marzulli
2 Timothy:1 – 4.
1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:
2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
This is an admonishment from Paul to Timothy, telling him to be ready to preach the word, but what “word” is he talking about? Remember that at the time of this letter to Timothy, what we now know as the New Testament didn’t exists! So Paul is exhorting Timothy to tell people about Yashua/Jesus the Messiah, the anointed one, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, and point to the prophecies of the Messiah’s coming, found in the TECNACH, so that people could read and see for themselves that all was fulfilled by Yashua/Jesus.
It is also interesting that Paul is pointing to the second coming as a reality. We see this again in 1 Peter, when Peter warns us that in the last days there will be scoffers who will say, where is the promise of His coming? This was the hope of the early church, that one day soon, He would return. The early church believed that it would happen in their day and guess what, it’s now 2000 years later and we still hope for His return and look for the signs of His coming.
What we see around us, played out in the earthquakes, tsunami’s, bird deaths, fish die-offs, tornado’s, volcanic eruptions, oil spills and nuclear melt-downs, in my opinion, are the signs of His coming. These are the birth-pangs that we are told will herald His appearing. We also see that there are movements within the church, that tickle peoples ears. I believe we see this in the Dominion Now, Kingdom Now, name-it-and-claim-it, signs and wonders, seed-faith teachings and Replacement theology, teachings that have sprung up like unwanted weeds, and drawn people away from what was handed down to us 2000 years ago. Let me put it this way, most of us would rather hear how God loves us and wants us to be prosperous, than hear that we are in the birth-pangs that will lead us into the tribulation period. There are some of us who are thrilled when we see gemstones and gold-dust fall, or hear that we can take the kingdom now! Most of us don’t want to face the reality that it’s not getting better, it’s getting worse.
However, we are admonished to look up when we see these very things begin to happen. We are not to cower in fear by what we see manifesting, but all of this should embolden us to preach the word in this season. To tell people about the prophecies that are being fulfilled in real time. To warn of what is coming on the earth. To point to what I believe is the Coming Great Deception and the revealing of the Antichrist.
In closing today’s Bun: I believe we are in unprecedented times and they are unique in all of history. There is a time that is coming, and I believe it is soon, where people will fall away from the faith by the millions, as they will believe the lie, they will fall for the deception, they will see the sings and wonders that the Fallen One has been planning for millennia and believe those false signs and wonder. Let us remember to preach the word and warn of the times that point to His return!
