Middle East Seething… Rage Boy

Commentary & Analysis

L. A. Marzulli

The picture to the left is of an individual who has become known as “Rage Boy.” While this picture was not taken recently I believe it encapsulates the despair, degregation, hopelessness, and backwardness that is the hallmark of many Middle Eastern nations.

Nepotism, cronyism, the age-old practice of baksheesh- which is bribery – continues to dominate the Arab street. There are food shortages and the average Arab Joe, on the street can’t feed his family, meanwhile the King and his court dine lavishly. Poverty has dominated the region generation after generation, with no end in sight. Now, the people have had enough, and there are demonstrations that are happening in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Tunisia.

The important question is this, where will all of this pent-up anger and frustration lead? Replacing one repressive regime with more of the same won’t solve anything. As I pointed out in an earlier BLOG, when this eruption began, there is a poor infrastructure, little industry, corruption is rife, there is a lack of basic necessities, and a general malaise that has plagued the region for centuries.

What is alarming to me is that the Moslem Brotherhood is behind much of the ruckus and they are all for establishing an Islamic state, which means Sharia law. The Arab people have a chance at democracy, which the Bush administration attempted to put in place in Iraq, which, in my opinion failed there and is only being propped up by US dollars and no-how. I believe that the very concept of democracy goes against the predominant philosophy of the region, which is Islam. Thus, unless there is reform in Islam, and by that I mean that women are allowed an education, equal rights and sharia law is abolished – something that most likely will never happen – the Middle East will remain as it has for the last 1300 years.

In closing todays post. Right now the Middle East is seething, but when the dust clears, I will bet that Islam and Sharia law will come out on top. We might see the opposite of what the people are demonstrating for, look what happened in Iran. If that happens, Israel will be the focus of a new collective of hate and vitriol. Never mind that the Israeli’s have managed to create an infrastructure, hospitals, universities, win Pulitzer prizes and in short create a vibrant society that is the exact opposite of the Arab world.

  1. Sharia Law is pushing itself into every facet of civilization today, even western civilization. A while back, most people heard about the controversy in Dearborn about it, but it’s also being pushed through our own food. This is more than just “religious tolerance” in my opinion.

Here’s an article on Sharia Law’s effects on food in America: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=255825

The video below is one of the many videos posted by Acts 17 Apologetics on what happened in Dearborn last year.

    • Michael,

One thought prompted by your post about Sharia law is the question why in the world women in the western culture are not opposed to Islam? I have seen on our campus girls and young women converts to Islam as well. Guess they think Sharia will liberate them???

  2. Question: “What does it mean that believers are to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16)?”

Answer: Jesus used the concepts of salt and light a number of different times to refer to the role of His followers in the world. One example is found in Matthew 5:13: “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” Salt had two purposes in the Middle East of the first century. Because of the lack of refrigeration, salt was used to preserve food, especially meat which would quickly spoil in the desert environment. Believers in Christ are preservatives to the world, preserving it from the evil inherent in the society of ungodly men whose unredeemed natures are corrupted by sin (Psalm 14:3; Romans 8:8).

Second, salt was used then, as now, as a flavor enhancer. In the same way that salt enhances the flavor of the food it seasons, the followers of Christ stand out as those who “enhance” the flavor of life in this world. Christians, living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in obedience to Christ, will inevitably influence the world for good, as salt has a positive influence on the flavor of the food it seasons. Where there is strife, we are to be peacemakers; where there is sorrow, we are to be the ministers of Christ, binding up wounds, and where there is hatred, we are to exemplify the love of God in Christ, returning good for evil (Luke 6:35).

In the analogy of light to the world, the good works of Christ’s followers are to shine for all to see. The following verses in Matthew 5 highlight this truth: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16, NASB). The idea here is similar—the presence of light in darkness is something which is unmistakable. The presence of Christians in the world must be like a light in the darkness, not only in the sense that the truth of God’s Word brings light to the darkened hearts of sinful man (John 1:1-10), but also in the sense that our good deeds must be evident for all to see. And indeed, our deeds will be evident if they are performed in accordance with the other principles which Jesus mentions in this passage, such as the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-11. Notice especially that the concern is not that Christians would stand out for their own sake, but that those who looked on might “glorify your Father who is in heaven” (v. 16, KJV).

In view of these verses, what sorts of things can hinder or prevent the Christian from fulfilling his or her role as salt and light in the world? The passage clearly states that the difference between the Christian and the world must be preserved; therefore, any choice on our part which blurs the distinction between us and the rest of the world is a step in the wrong direction. This can happen either through a choice to accept the ways of the world for the sake of comfort or convenience or to contravene the law of obedience to Christ.

Mark 9:50 suggests that saltiness can be lost specifically through a lack of peace with one another; this follows from the command to “have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” And in Luke 14:34-35, we find a reference to the metaphor of salt once again, this time in the context of obedient discipleship to Jesus Christ. The loss of saltiness occurs in the failure of the Christian to daily take up the cross and follow Christ wholeheartedly.

It seems, then, that the role of the Christian as salt and light in the world may be hindered or prevented through any choice to compromise or settle for that which is more convenient or comfortable, rather than that which is truly best and pleasing to the Lord. Moreover, the status of salt and light is something which follows naturally from the Christian’s humble obedience to the commandments of Christ. It is when we depart from the Spirit-led lifestyle of genuine discipleship that the distinctions between ourselves and the rest of the world become blurred and our testimony is hindered. Only by remaining focused on Christ and being obedient to Him can we expect to remain salt and light in the world.

  3. With all of this going on and the finacial
crash coming, should I take out my savings and
pay off the house or leave it in the bank.
    Any thoughts.

    • John I would take your money out of the bank and the stock market. Get a large safe and keep it at your house. My uncle lives in California and when Indymac shut down there was a run on the bank for cash. You cant trust the FDIC. Read their new crazy regulations. I would also have close to 70% of my assets in gold and silver coins at your house. They will only appreciate. Get the rest in cash. I would definitely get out of cash before the dollar, the Euro and the Yen collapse. Remember food and water is your most valuable asset. In addition the housing market is only depreciating. It doesnt pay to think long term right now. Paying off your house is a long term investment unless you only owe a small balance and paying it off still leaves you will a large emergency savings balance.

    • Take the money out of the bank??? How could I ever for go the very generous .15 % interest I am receiving, can’t take a hit like that on my finances.

    • In my opinion at the very least, you can’t wrong by paying off your home, especially if you eliminate the interest you are paying on your mortgage, plus you will actually own your home. Furthermore, if a crash does occur you won’t lose your money and you won’t have mortgage payments to worry about.

    • John,
A lot would depend on your income as to whether you want to take it all out. How much interest does it make is to be considered to what kind of interest you are paying on your morgage. You no doubt are losing money by leaving it in the bank or wherever your savings are. Why pay ten cents out on the same amount of money that you have in savings getting say only three cents. You would be losing seven cents per dollar. We are being eat up in enough ways and if you can help yourself by paying it off and still live I would.

It probably all depends on how stable your income is.

There used to be an old song out of the past depression, “can I sleep in your barn tonight Mister”. Someone ought to rewrite it to something like “can I sleep in your garage tonight mister”

Since today there isn’t enough barns to go around.

    • ‎”They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like refuse; their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD; they will not satisfy their souls, nor fill their stomachs, because it became their stumbling block of iniquity.” Ezekiel 7:19

Move away from the cities and stock up on FOOD. Seek the Lord for His guidance.

    • Chris: Thanks for that verse, I could not remember where it was. HOWEVER, my own personal belief; and I feel that I am in God’s will on this because I prayed about it: I just closed out what was left in my little IRA and bought silver (coins)–NOT for way in the future use, but for whatever transition period we may have to go through (if we’re still here) when the dollar is devalued or totally done away with; or while the dollar is being switched over to some new currency. Just my 2cents’ worth.

      God bless us all.

  4. Jesus Christ vs. Allah

This uprise in the Middle East without doubt strikes me as being part of the prophetic picture and I see this event as a significant event. The pangs of birth are bringing the Islamic nations into one mind. And their mind will be to wipe Israel off the map once and for all. On the flipside GOD is preparing to show himself in all this, as he will defeat them.

The spirit of deception has led many to believe that there are many paths to GOD and that whatever you call him, even if it is Allah, it is the same GOD. However, there is only one GOD and only one path to GOD and this same GOD can be identified as unique in that he has a son Jesus Christ.

    Matthew 22:44 (King James Version)

44The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

  5. I don’t know. I think this Muslim fanatacism is in part a desperate reaction to the freedom that Muslims are being exposed to on the internet and other media. Many are sick of the violence and restrictions, and will be open to another way. Hopefully this will be Christianity, but I fear it may be Bahaism.
Keep an eye on Egypt. The stage may be getting set for the “king of the south” to “push at” the “king of the north”.

  6. “UFOs are Real – Burgeoning and NOT Going Away!” …LA Marzulli.

I believe it is satanic interference that ufos have not been disclosed to the public, the time of the “Great Deception” is not yet, but it is surely coming.

I have been a witness to more than one sighting that is beyond a doubt “otherworldly”.

Once at 11, again at 14 with my parents and neighbors present (very up close and personal encounter), and again at 19.

  7. Please keep my Family and myself in your prayers, I seem to have upset the dark side a bit and am slowly becoming surrounded by illness and injuries to family members ,it is now up to 6 relatives in 48 hours. I will remain strong and in prayer with the Armor of God on my side but can surely use some additional support. I thank you greatly in advance. Randy

  8. By way of explanation I have recently started doing the Lords work after a lifetime of doing everything but and now I seem to have satans full attention as long as I was working for him he left me alone but praise God I was filled with the Holy Spirit and have become a different person so now the fight is on. Praise God

    • Randyman: You will be in my prayers. God bless you and give you the strength you need. Remember what LA always says when in spiritual warfare; Use the power God has given you and rebuke whatever is attacking you.

(I know, easier said than done!)

Take care and keep that armor on!

    • I got your back too Randyman! I would just like to share that I pray for all those who blog, read, post, everytime I think of it. I pray that the Good Lord will provide and increase His people and protect this blog and all those who come here.

    • Randy,

If you have read this BLOG for a while, you have most likely seen me call upon these wonderful Brethren for intercession on behalf of my own family more than a couple of times.

This is a very special, tight-nit group that God saw fit to bring together here. The prayer warriors here are for real. When they say they will pray, you can rest in the Lord and know that the fight is on.

I too will be calling on my own special group of prayer warriors to intercede on your behalf my brother. Don’t ever be ashamed to ask for prayer here. Keep fighting the Good Fight, take your position, stand firm and let God fight for you.

      In Christ,

      Jeff D

  9. Brzezinski’s Feared “Global Awakening” Has Arrived

Zbigniew Brzezinski’s much feared “global political awakening” is in full swing. Revolts in Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia and other countries represent a truly monumental worldwide rallying cry for freedom that threatens to immeasurably damage the agenda for one world government, but only if the successful revolutionaries can prevent themselves from being co-opted by a paranoid and desperate global elite.

During a Council on Foreign Relations speech in Montreal last year, co-founder with David Rockefeller of the Trilateral Commission and regular Bilderberg attendee Zbigniew Brzezinski warned of a “global political awakening,” mainly comprising of younger people in developing states, that threatened to topple the existing international order.

Reading the full extent of Brzezinski’s words in light of the global revolts that we now see spreading like wildfire across the planet provides an astounding insight into how crucially important the outcome of this phase of modern history will be to the future geopolitical course of the world, and in turn the survival and growth of human freedom in general.

Why There Are So Many Fools Teaching About God

The online apologetics and discernment work Apprising Ministries has been documenting the growing falling away of the mainstream evangelical community; and I’ve warned you that there is a tsunami of apostasy—pushed along by 1 Peter 4:17 judgments—headed toward the church visible. Not a few of these judgments have come through evanjellyfish’s foolish embrace of the sinfully ecumenical Emergent Church, headed by the unholy trinity of apostates, Living Spiritual Teacher and EC guru Brian McLaren, universalist Emerging Church pastor Doug Pagitt, and his friend Tony Jones, the progressive “theologian in residence” at Solomon’s Porch.

Read the rest of the article at http://apprising.org/2011/01/28/where-is-the-fear-of-god/

Apprising ministries does an unbelievable job exposing ministries from Rick Warren to Mormonism, to creationism, to Joel Osteen, to Islam. You name it has it. I love reading this web site for guidance. Check it out you wont be disappointed.

    • Fear = Reverence, Awe, Obedience. I would add a couple verses to your thought.

Re 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

    • “And I saw another Angel flying in midheaven, having the eternal gospel to preach……And he said with a loud voice (((((FEAR GOD & GIVE HIM GLORY))))) because the hour of his judgment has come; and worship Him…… Rev14:6,7.

    • Christian persecution is really ticking up in Egypt too. Remember to pray for them~ On GMO – the online missionary site I’ve been getting a siginificant increase in decisions for Christ from Egypt as well as Casablanca, Morocco. Your life is at stake there to follow Christ so I’m sure they really take counting the cost into consideration.

  11. The Prophecy Against Egypt – Isaiah 19:1-25

Isaiah 19:1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

Isaiah 19:2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

Isaiah 19:3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

Isaiah 19:4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

Isaiah 19:5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

Isaiah 19:6 And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.

Isaiah 19:7 The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.

Isaiah 19:8 The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.

Isaiah 19:9 Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.

Isaiah 19:10 And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.

Isaiah 19:11 Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

Isaiah 19:12 Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

Isaiah 19:13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.

Isaiah 19:14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

Isaiah 19:15 Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.

Isaiah 19:16 In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

Isaiah 19:17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

Isaiah 19:18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

Isaiah 19:19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.

Isaiah 19:20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

Isaiah 19:21 And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.

Isaiah 19:22 And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.

Isaiah 19:23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.

Isaiah 19:24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:

Isaiah 19:25 Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

  12. What is the point in the U.S. trying to encourage Democracy in the middle east? Since all of those people over there hate us-they would just vote for leaders that hate us.
