Tens of thousands of Israeli Jews gathered at the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City on Tuesday to mark Tisha B’Av and publicly mourn the loss of Israel’s ancient temples and the “Exile of the Divine Presence.”
“Tisha B’Av was not intended to be a day of perpetual mourning, but rather, a bridge to the future; the yearning and desire which our mourning inspires is designed to motivate us to rebuild,” Richman wrote on the Temple Institute website.
“The renewal of Israel and the building of the Holy Temple is a process that has begun and is now unstoppable,” concluded Richman. “This nation is preparing to ‘rise up like a lion’ (Numbers 23:24). We are moving ever closer to the day on which we can truly say, without jaded cynicism or facetiousness but with true sincerity, that Tisha B’Av is no longer relevant, for it will have turned into a day of gladness.”

There is controversy over the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple. It comes from many different sources, Christian, Jew, Moslem and just about everybody with an opinion on the subject. However, what does the Guidebook to the Supernatural tell us? Here, in the 9 chapter of Daniel, as with many prophetic passages, we have those who say that all of what is there has happened and thus, is fulfilled. While others – I’m in this camp – who declare that it is yet to happen, it is still future..
Daniel 9:27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”
I believe this prophecy is about the future Anti Christ. We know this because of this line: Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week. Now if you believe it has already happened as Preterists do, then there’s nothing more to talk about and the above article about the Jews rebuilding their temple is meaningless. However, Jesus points back to this chapter specifically in Matthew 24. Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” whoever reads, let him understand…
Preterists believe this happened in 70 AD. I don’t believe it did because there was no 7 year treaty, there was no abomination of desolation, and no Anti Christ setting himself up in the Temple to be worshiped. So let’s assume that it didn’t happen, which would mean that at some point after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, the temple would have to be rebuilt and the daily sacrifices reinstituted.
I want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with the atonement of Yashua/Jesus on the cross. He paid the price once for all. But, it has everything to do with the Jews, the Temple, the Anti Christ, and the prophecy of Daniel. You see, if you are a Preterists than the Jews being gathered into their ancient homeland means nothing. If you hold to the tenants of that position, then when Jerusalem is finally taken out of the hands of the gentiles, after almost 2000 years, as Yashua/Jesus said it would be, and the Jews regain control of it, it means nothing. If you believe that these prophecies have been fulfilled, then the Jews wanting to rebuild their temple again, again, means nothing.
However, if we take what I believe is the correct position, that of realizing that the 70th week of Daniel has not been fulfilled and that it is still in the future, then stories like the one I linked to above are pregnant with prophetic meaning.
The Jews will rebuild their Temple, because it has been prophesied that they will do so. They will reinstitute the daily sacrifice. They will Align themselves unknowingly with the one who is called the Anti Christ. He will betray them and set himself up in the newly constructed Temple, after 3 1/2 years to be worshipped. This is the coming abomination of desolation that Yashua/Jesus spoke of. Then when all seems lost, He, Yashua/Jesus will come riding on a white horse and His feet will split the Mount of Olives:
Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn.
