Sunday Go To Meeting Bun!

I am often asked, in regard to prophecy, if we can change or reshape it, or by some act of our collective wills. alter it. I believe that while we have free will the short answer to that question is no, we can’t. It’s set in stone, because the most High God is viewing what will happen from eternity’s perspective where time, as we know it, does not exist. We are told that there will be a war in the Middle East, at the end of days. We are also warned that the Antichrist will assemble the Kings of the earth in a place called Armageddon. At this time the world is holding its collective breath as the Middle East arms itself for war. Ever since Cain killed Abel, and Abel’s blood cried out from the ground, war and killing and the carnage that goes with it, has been a dark hallmark of the human race. We see glitzy ads on the Television, that glamorize war. There are catchy sayings like, Be all that you can be, that lure the young and innocent. Then there are madmen like Hitler who had to be stopped. All of this raises the question, is there such a thing as a just war? In my opinion WWII was a just war. We have set aside a day, Memorial day to remember those who gave their lives on the beaches of France, Okinawa, and Dunkirk. We remember those who whose lives were ended in Korea and Viet Nam. We salute those who never returned from Iraq or Afghanistan. It would seem that ours is a broken world. A brutal world. A savage world. Yet, there is a promise that I hold dearly too and it is this.

Isa 2:4   He shall judge between the nations, And rebuke many people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.

This prophecy has not happened yet and it points toward a day when the Messiah shall reign in Jerusalem. It is going to happen, when the King returns. He will stop the bloodshed, the killing, the heartbreak and finality of death. Nations will no longer seek to destroy each other. When the King returns, this prophecy will be fulfilled! This, as believer, is what we look forward to. It is our blessed hope. It is what all creation groans in longing for. It is hallmark of His kingdom, and when it comes, men will beat their swords into plowshares. How wonderful a promise. There is nothing like it written anywhere else on this planet. Make no mistake, it is His physical presence on the earth that will accomplish this. The enemy of our souls will be cast into the Abyss and for a thousand years there will be peace as the world has never known it. In the meantime we take the time to remember those who have fallen, who will never see the light of the sun again, whose memory never lessens as the years pass. We remember, and wait for day when He will bind up the broken-hearted and war will be no more….

  1. Worth watching is the tension building over the Freedom Flotilla which is approaching Gaza to bring aid. Israel has vowed to stop it, including using force. There are several parlimentarians and other dignitaries on board the flotilla. The parlimentarions are:

    “…Ireland’s Chris Andrews from ruling party Fianna Fail, Aengus Ó Snodaigh from Sinn Fein, and senator Mark Daly; Swiss PM Mehmet Kaplan; former Italian senator Fernando Rossi; Hedy Epstein, an 86-year old US citizen whose parents were killed in the Holocaust; Kiriyak Tsonev, a former Bulgarian envoy to all Arabic countries; Oslo city council member Erling Folkvord; as well as Swedish journalists and writers from Sweden and France – all these people had spent 18 hours trying to board ships in Cypriot harbors to join the Gaza Freedom Flotilla that was waiting for them.

    “The flotilla, made up of nine ships, is to bring 10,000 tons of humanitarian cargo into Gaza, including medicines and notebooks, along with about 700 people: MPs from Israel and Germany, writers, scientists, two Al-Jazeera camera crews, newswire writers and TV journalists from Norway, Sweden, Bulgaria and France.”

    The organizers have vowed to bring the supplies to Gaza in spite of what should happen in transit. I hope these people are not caught in the middle of a violent outcome.

  2. Very nicely said. I think we find it too easy to get saddened and fearful, even as believers, and we forget the bounty of this beautiful promise.

  3. Thank you for your kind and eloquent tribute, Dr. Marzulli.

    Both of my grandfathers are veterans of WWII, the stories, more like the horror stories, they have to tell of cannot possibly relay what they actually endured.

    One grandad was a medic in Europe and North Africa. Men’s bodies blown to bits or in half and the suffering he witnessed have affected him deeply his entire life, we as a generation never want to have to go through that. Sadly, history repeats itself, we will probably have the opportunity to know what war is like.

    Yet, how would life on our planet be today if these men of valor hadn’t made their sacrifice? Truly, their eternal reward must be a life of peace and joy with Our Saviour. As sad as the loss of posterity may be, what our human eyes cannot see is the glory and awe those brave people now live forever with the Lord.

    I salute all veterans, active servicemen and women and our brave fallen heros on this Memorial day. God bless and keep you.

  4. Nothing is more beautiful and honorable than a soldier who fights for a higher cause. The saying goes, “God, Country, Corps” in that order. In a day when God is pushed more and more out of our everyday lives, I pray that all of our actions start with God first. God bless those who have died preserving our freedom so that we may praise and honor God without the fear of being persecuted or killed.

    Prophecy may not be changed, but perhaps, just perhaps, if enough people repent, it might be delayed. Exodus 32:14 God have mercy on us all!!

  5. Israeli forces storm Gaza aid ship

    The flotilla sailed from Cyprus on Sunday The Israeli navy has stormed at least one of a convoy of ships carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza strip, amid reports of casualties on board.

    Not a good PR move. The Israeli’s should have thought this one through. This will be another Who Me?

    [2] … of Christ;
    [3] In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

    “The kingdom of Heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” Matthew 13:45-46

    I’ve found the Pearl of greatest price,
    My heart doth sing for joy;
    And sing I must, for Christ is mine;
    Christ shall my song employ.

    Christ is my Prophet, Priest and King;
    A Prophet full of light,
    My great High Priest before the throne,
    My King of heav’nly might.

    For He indeed is Lord of lords,
    And He the King of kings;
    He is the Sun of righteousness,
    With healing in His wings.

    Christ is my Peace; He died for me,
    For me He gave His blood;
    And as my wondrous Sacrifice,
    Offered Himself to God.

    Christ Jesus is my All in all,
    My Comfort and my Love,
    My Life below, and He shall be
    My Joy and Crown above.
