Acceleration Radio – Wednesday: Marian Apparitions w/ Jim Tetlow!

We’ve had a lot of comments on the BLOG site over the holiday season, mostly about whether or not the so-called Marian apparitions are real or a counterfeit. While I certainly won’t be able to convince the diehards that the apparitions are not the Mary of the bible, I will take a moment to call your attention to what I feel may provide some closure to the subject. But first, I want to announce ahead of time, that our guest this week on Acceleration Radio will be Jim Tetlow. Jim is the author of the book, Messages From Heaven. He has explored the depths of the Marian apparitions and I believe is the go-to guy in regard to the phenomena. His book will be available in our book store, so look for it in the next day or so.

We can agree that something is appearing just outside of Cairo. Let’s strip it down and expose what we know.

1. A light manifests on top of the Coptic church. It appears to have a shape that is similar to a human.

2. There are doves, or light-balls that look like doves that circle around the church.

3. There has been no communication with the apparition.

4. No one, as far as I know has tested the spirits and I think it is fair to say that people are accepting the apparition as something that is benevolent.

5. The apparition is similar to others that have appeared world-wide.

So what are we to think about this? Some of you believe that it is the Mary of the Bible, but as I have pointed out no one has tested the spirits. I’ll say it again that testing the spirits is the only way to find out what we are dealing with. It’s really simple as you ask, did Jesus come in the flesh? While this might sound sophomoric, we are told in the Guidebook to the Supernatural i.e. the Bible that this is precisely what we are to do in order to find out what “spirit” we are dealing with. Here’s the reason why it works. When Jesus came in the flesh, and died on the cross, shedding his blood, the fallen angels and the prince of the world, Satan, lost their dominion over us. Jesus coming in the flesh and dwelling with men is the pivotal point in all of history. His resurrection from the dead spelled the doom of the enemy and this why the question or challenge, if He came in the flesh, drives them nuts. They know they were defeated. They know they were cast out of their, “first estate.” They know their time is short. They realize that the second coming is eminent and their end-game is to deceive as many people as possible. In my opinion, Marian apparitions are part of the Coming Great Deception. In closing I want to give an example of how one lie can change everything. If you were a sailor and I was setting the course of your ship by giving you longitude and latitude settings and I gave you 99 headings that were true, you would be fine and you would reach your destination. But, and this is a huge BUT, if I  gave you one heading which was wrong that would throw you completely off course and you would never reach your intended destination! Cherry picking what the apparition has said that jibes with Christianity is misleading and at first glance it would seem that the apparition may be the real deal, thus the 99 messages which are true. However, one must note that the apparition then gives us something that is not true. To call itself co-redemptrix, which it has done at several apparition sites is just blasphemy, plain and simple. There was only one who died for our sins, shedding His blood and bearing our guilt on the cross. With all respect to Mary, she had nothing to do with it, period. While I respect her and honor her as the mother of the Lord, she is in no way a co-redemptrix. This concept was added only recently and was promulgated by the apparition itself. This is one reason why it is demonic and not the Mary of the bible. Jesus is called the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. It is He who sits at the right hand of the father and it is He who will judge the living and the dead, not Mary.

  1. Absolutely right on target! I love the fact the you refer to the Bible as the guide book to the supernatural. Because that is exactly what it is. Thank you for your straight forward, no non-sense declaration of the Truth!

  2. welcome to twenty ten!
excellent commentary…as i was reading this a scripture came to mind.
Luke 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, “The kingdom of God cometh with not observation: (21)Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” (22) And he said unto the disciples, “The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. (23) And they shall say unto you, See here, or see there: go not after them, nor follow them. (24) For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part of heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven;, so shall also the Son of man be in his day.”

    it will be unmistakable!
i agree with L.A., we must test the spirits
    love, robert

  3. There is a group of people who are easily misled. This group is made up of folks who are already deceived to one degree or another.

It takes very little effort to enable them to continue on their chosen path of deception.

Whereas it would take a great deal of effort to get a true believer on the path of deception, comparitively speaking.

It all boils down to this; believe God, or believe man!
In this day, the rapture cannot be very far off, in my opinion!
Staying on the “Narrow, path” takes on ominous proportions.

As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord!

  4. Todd Tomasella’s 1/4/10 devotional was sure timely- here are some excerpts that tie in with today’s post.

    Forever Relevant

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8

When the slick entrepreneurish pastors and their disciples come along to teach you a more “relevant” way or method, move closer to, search deeper, and cling to the Holy Scriptures which are tried, true, and eternally relevant, fresh, and charged with the divine life of the One who spoke them. – “These words are spirit and they are life.” (Jn. 6:63) \o/ God’s words are always in style with Him and those who truly love Him. So, beware of the cheap substitutes which daily present themselves to you, seeking to sift you from resolute, pure trust in the God who gave us His Word (Lk. 22:31-32).

Listening to what Jesus, the LORD, told us in places like Rev. 2-3 is most important. God has spoken to us in His “MORE sure word of prophecy” – the Holy Scriptures (Heb. 1:1-3; 2 Pet. 1:19-21; Ps. 119:105).

Hearing them is hearing the fresh voice of God. God’s Word never diminishes, fades, or loses power – it’s always – perpetually and eternally fresh, relevant, instructive, and life giving. In light of this truth, do not be “carried about” or snared by these so-called “fresh” words from God and the demonic mystic surrounding this diabolical myth.

“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” Ephesians 4:14

The only way to prevent being “tossed to and fro, and carried about” – blown away – is to be soundly and thoroughly grounded in the Scriptures through daily study, meditation, and memorization (Josh. 1:8; Prov. 4:4; Jer. 15:16). Not one of us lacks capacity, we only lack choosing to fear God, delighting in Him, and living a disciplined life that reflects His work in us (Phil. 2:12-13).

The disciple of Jesus who has THE Word doesn’t go around looking for “a word” from a mere man or woman claiming to be a prophet or prophetess or apostle. This doesn’t mean there aren’t people who function in these gifts biblically, and yet there are many today misleading people with a misuse of the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12-14).

Prophetic accuracy does not authentic a person as from God (Deut. 13). Read Deuteronomy 13 and you will discover that if a person comes among God’s people and prophesies and what he predicts comes to pass and then he teaches false doctrine, he is to be put out and marked as false.

The nine gifts of the Spirit do have a divine purpose and have not passed away because that which is perfect has not yet come (1 Cor. 12-14).

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.” Revelation 2:7

Here in the Scriptures of truth the Son of God is warning us to “hear what the Holy Spirit saith” to His people and not what some man or men are saying the Spirit is saying.

The Holy Spirit gave us the Scriptures – “holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Pet. 1:20-21) And we know He is divine, perfect and unchanging and so would never “alter” or change His Word to us (Ps. 89:23; 119:89).

Also, “the sword of the Spirit IS the word of God.” (Eph. 6:17)

Do we think the LORD is going to contradict what He has already spoken?

How in the world can I possibly rightly discern some prophetic word coming from a mere human if I don’t daily and diligently study THE Word of God? (2 Tim. 2:15)

To endure to the end, we must be like the Berean believers who “received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

“My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.” Psalms 89:34

Also, when Jesus seven times says ““He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches,” He’s not talking about trying to hear something inside of your corrupt, depraved, and “desperately wicked” heart (Gen. 6:5, 12; Jer. 17:9; Rom. 3). No, He’s teaching us here to walk the narrow road with His precious Precepts shining on your feet and on your path.

After Adam fell in sin, our hearts are not to be trusted. – “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.” (Prov. 28:26)

There’s another safety measure our Great Shepherd put in place to protect us and that’s the counsel of the righteous – those who are sound in the faith due to being soberly rooted and grounded in sound doctrine. – “Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.”

(Prov. 27:9) Godly counsel will always come out of God’s Word and will be a confirming factor in our hearts when making key decisions in this life.

    Jeremiah 23

25.)I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.
26.)How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; …..
30.)Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.
31.)Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.
32.)Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

Did you note here that the LORD tells us that these false prophets “cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness”?

Words of mere men produce “lies” and “lightness” in those who give them audience. In contrast to “lies” and “lightness,” God’s Word instills the fear of the LORD in the hearts of those who truly trust Him by daily ingesting His Word. Why did the LORD give us His written Word? To guide us, to cleanse us, and for many other wonderful reasons, yet one in particular comes to mind here and that’s Deuteronomy 4:10.

    Deuteronomy 4

    8.)And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? 9.)Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
10.)Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

God gave us His Word so we would “learn to fear” Him and so what happens if we get out of His Word? – we cease to fear Him. Do we begin to see now why Satan uses his wolf prophets to get people out of THE Word and relying on something else like so-called prophetic “words”? (Or appariations-Lisa’s insert)

When you get around these type people we are talking about, you will notice what later will come out as a false joy (“lightness”). Instead of getting into THE Word, they give each other “words.” If you have ever been around these type of people who live off of pseudo “words” instead of THE Word, you will see no fear of God in them but rather frivolity and lightness in the absence of the fear of God and a sound and sober heart filled with the joy of Jesus. Remember that the LORD told us in the Jeremiah 23 passage above that these beguilers “cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness.” (Jer. 23:32)

    The Divine “Lamp” and “Light”

“THY word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105

Here the Bible, God’s Word, tells us that God’s “word” and not our word or some figment of our own wicked imagination, guides our feet and lights our path. Satan has no new tricks in his bag – “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man.” (1 Cor. 10:13)

“There is NO new thing under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9

Throughout history, God’s people have erred when they began to rely upon the wicked imaginations of their depraved hearts (Rom. 1).

Always remember that “ALLLLLLL things that pertain unto life and godliness” are found in the divinely-breathed “exceeding great and precious promises” of our LORD and Savior (2 Pet. 1:2-4)

Be it known that as long as you are on this earth, Satan, the enemy of your eternal soul, is going to send false teacher after false prophet who come in Christ’s name to get you to look to someone else outside of the LORD Almighty who gave you His unchanging, eternally relevant Word.

The devil “walketh about seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Pet. 5:8) Jesus said he comes to “taketh away the word” of God from your life (Mk. 4:15). The enemy’s false prophets use all kinds of seemingly spiritual beguilement to get you to look to self and your own ability to “hear God’s voice,” etc.

God is able to keep those who uphold Jesus Christ as the supreme “Head” and “holy potentate.” (Col. 2:18-19; 1 Tim. 6:15)“Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:15-16

Your Savior is coming soon to get you – He loves you more than you can fathom. He commanded you to endure to the end – will you? Hold to Him! Seek Him! Love Him! Worship Him without reserve!

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” 1 Peter 1:23-25

The eternal and living Word gave us His Precepts and nothing could ever possibly be more relevant than God’s precious Words – so walk in them. Let them circumcise your heart, fill your thoughts and meditations, and guide your feet down the narrow road that leads to life.

  5. Up to the present time the popes of old have passed 5 dogmas concerning Mary which are binding upon the members of their church.
    These dogmas are;
    1.Mother of God
    2.perpetual virginity
    3.immaculate conception
4.assumption into heaven body and soul
    5.Mother of the church
    6. Mary as co-redeprix

I refer to all of these dogmas as sacrilegious because; they are a desecration of the Mystery of godliness which is revealed in Christ Jesus according to the predetermined plan of God the Father. 1Tim 3:16

A catholic priest, adviser to the holy office, Father Gabriel Roschini, in his publication on the role of Mary as co-redemptrix says that; ( Mary did not only participate in the birth of Jesus, but that with conception, she entered with him into a spiritual union – The divine plan of salvation being not only material, includes a spiritual unity with Christ as co-redeemer.)

Apostasy is the outworking of iniquity through the Spirit of Antichrist, a condition which is advancing rapidly to reveal the son of perdition.1Jn2:18,19. 2Thes2:7,8.
The sad thing is that multitudes of Catholic’s and ecumenical protestants are already under this intoxicating influence believing this lie From the Gates of Hell.

There are presently medallions, prayer cards, candles in honor of this dogma, such is the devoutness of Mary worshipers that they have overtaken their church in its propagation.

The dogma affirms that Mary’s role as co-redeemer include her readily function as “mediator and advocate” which is part of her regal work as “the queen of heaven” during her reign. Note: these functions belong to Christ alone. There is one mediator between man and God, the man Christ Jesus, He is our Advocate before the Father. 1Tim2:5- 1Jn2:1

So; These apostates (False Apostles spear heading the world into the great Apostasy) have managed to transfer all the attributes of divinity belonging to The Lord Jesus Christ to an entity presuming to be the biblical Mary, going under the name (The queen of heaven) about which the scriptures clearly reveal to be an object of false worship.

    John B

    • I am aware that there is plenty going on in the world which is anti-Christian and yes, a lot of it is the spiritual force of the Spirit of Antichrist which Apostle John Tells us is in the World.

But consider the Dogma’s Listed Above Attributed to what I believe is (Satan Himself) in the Guise of Mary, “That is as Antichrist as can be”.
For It is a direct attack on the “person” of Jesus Christ Himself, undermining the “Mystery of Godliness” which is “Christ come in the Flesh as redeemer”.
This is the strongest manifestation of the “Mystery of iniquity” propagated by “Mother Babylon” up to date.

      John B

    • mary is intercessor .she stands in the gap between worlds .believe it or not underestimate what God has made.he made us once he can make us again.remember it was mary who had the little lamb so he who was in her is more powerful than he who is in the world.she was the vessel to carry the LOrd.give her the credit she deserves and if ya knew her you’d know that she would not accept worship and she,d tell you she is a fellow servant of the LORD.and never wanted worship from anyone.she was an example just like her son.we sinned we paid the price and i believe double jeoperty could be used in the case of the return can,t be charged with the same thing twice .ball is in your court .

  6. I am a Roman Catholic.. though more so a born again Christian. There is no where that I know where the Blessed Mother has been been given the title of Co Redemptress. I know that Pope JPII was to have given it some thought and there are many who in my opinion are fooled and think she is , but never has it been instituted into the R C Church. A Catholic is not obligated to believe all or any of the apparitions.

What shall we do if after a so called generation passes and we don’t see the culmination of prophesy (Rapture, Tribulation etc)that we seem to hang onto so tightly (I do). Could perhaps there be more mysteries that we haven’t uncovered in the Bible? Also do we forget God is SOVERIGN and dare I say that could even include from the Bible.

What a stuggle we(I) have with trying to descern what is God’s truth to the end of this age (Gentile age- age of Grace. What shall we do if 2012 comes and goes and nada…….. what sure we do throw our hands up and scream to the Lord and say Hey, what the heck is going on Lord! What a struggle.

    • Hi Ken, I said 5 dogmas were binding, you are correct co-redemptrix is yet to be ratified. Please consider, that there is no words of objection to the restraining of devotion to Mary as co-redemptrix from the Clerical authority of the RC church. As I have pointed out the devotional objects (medals ect) in relation to this is wide spread among catholic’s.

A struggle is correct, specially with so many voices and so many Jesus’ being put forward as messiah within the multi denominational organisations. I am an ex catholic and was Seven years in that church as a born again believer, I finally made the break after earnest seeking and study of Church History and came to the conclusion that the Scriptures only is the final Authority and not the Popes. It was the hardest thing for me to do, breaking spiritual ties of my infancy to the RC Church. You know what! the Jesus I knew for seven years is still the same Today with one difference He is above the trappings of religion, I don’t need priest, , Mary nor anyone to be accepted by My Father.

The Lord Looks at The Heart of A person, Is it in Christ dependent upon Him alone for Salvation?

      John B.

  7. Ken, You need to do more research on your religion! Chritianity is not a religion, but a relationship with God through the person of Jesus Christ.

There is only ONE, Roman Catholic doctrine. Catholics are NOT free to pick and choose as you say, according to RCC dogma.

Please Ken, for your own sake check into it. Time is short!

These links will help you. I recommend “A Woman Rides the Beast” by Dave Hunt. All his footnotes come from Roman Catholic sources.

  8. As soon as Mary acquires her redemptive powers (tongue firmly planted in cheek) then people will cease to rely on God’s word. All they will need is their daily dose of apparition speak and be led like a lamb to the slaughter.

  9. Thanks for having Jim Tetlow on this Wednesday. He is a great author and writer, looking forward to it and will be telling all to listen.

  10. Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heveanly realms. 13. Therefore put on the full armor of God, SO THAT WHEN THE DAY OF EVIL COMES, YOU MAY BE ABLE TO STAND YOUR GROUND, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14. Stand firm with the BELT OF TRUTH buckled around your waist, with the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS in place, 15. and with your FEET FITTED WITH THE READINESS THAT COMES FROM THE GOSPEL OF PEACE. 16. In addition to all this TAKE UP THE SHIELD OF FAITH, with which you can extingquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17. Take the HELMET OF SALVATION and THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD. 18. And PRAY IN THE SPIRIT ON ALL OCCASSIONS with all kinds of prayers and requests….”

These words have been recorded for some time but today they seem as fresh to me as if they were written just yesterday. God’s word is relevant to us today. The “day of darkness” seems to be just around the corner. The scriptures tell us what we need to know so that we can endure to the end. Therefore, I fully agree that we need to spend as much time in our bibles, trying to commit as much to memory as we can and trying to understand as much as we can. We will have no leg to stand on in “the day of darkness” if we don’t know God’s word. Period. I was told this many years ago but it didn’t seem to sink in. In the last couple of years, it has sunk in and now, I’m trying to play catch up. I have a terrible memory but I’m trying to commit scripture to memory. It is getting easier, actually. I wonder if maybe, since God sees I’m putting forth the effort, He is giving me a little help? He won’t shove it down our throats or force it on us. We have to CHOOSE to accept His word.

  11. How do we know whether or not the spirits there have been tested or not? Is there any way we can know that for certain? Does anyone here on this blog plan to go to Egypt and test the spirits themselves? Or can you trust and verify from someone on the ground there to do this and let us know what happens?

My understanding of Coptic Christians is that they are extremly devout and extremely persecuted. I would love to believe that these apparitions are of the Holy Family, the Love of God and his gift to the world, a miraculous nativity scene, a reminder to ‘hang in there, I am still with you and I love you.’

You can be a sceptic or a believer all you want, but unless we know that the spirits are tested,
and the resulting effects, I haven’t made up my mind about this. I will accept that I was deceived if a rebuking stops the activity.

How can we make sure this is done?

    • Rene – I had someone who offered to send my team to Cairo but they could only part with $5000. That would cover plane fare. Without the funds I can’t make it happen. As far as I know no one has tested the spirits there or at any other apparition sites. Without that being done people just believe what the imposter tells them. It really is the blind leading the blind in my opinion. Check out tomorrows Acceleration Radio as we will have Jim Tetlow who will address this phenomena.

    • In ref to testing the spirit, I agree that the best way is face to face give that you can get close enough. However the problem with most of this is that the apparitions usually can only be heard by seers as they are called.
The next best thing is to discern the messages to see if they agree or disagree with the Scripture, That is if one believes it to be the Final Authority. Then discern the impact of the messages upon the people.
      This I have done with regards to Fatima and some of the others, as I have close relation with some of the devotees. The thrust of the messages is;
“A threat of judgment upon the world is given unless humanity becomes ecumenically united in Peace under the Fatherhood of God. The Faithful to her call are to pray for the Holy Father(pope)he being instrumental in this unity. This path to peace will be realized by joining Mary in her intercession for the World”. There are also the “Titles of Exaltation” which it gives itself placing it on par with Jesus which always creates a new devotion to Them (Titles) by form of prayer cards , medallions ect.

Being raised Catholic I have an understanding in its thinking. “The Fear of Excommunication with its bondage to the Clerical authority” These apparitions do nothing to alleviate this predicament of Catholic Thinking, if anything it creates a greater bondage to the Hierarchy’s Stronghold.

May the Lord be Gracious and Shatter the darkness in the minds of all who seek Him in Truth.

      John B.
