Syrian opposition claim dozens killed in ‘massacre’ by Assad forces — RT News

Syrian opposition activists allege that government troops have killed at least 85 people during the storming of a Damascus suburb following five days of fighting.

According to the Syrian opposition, the number of victims of what they described as a “massacre” at the Jdeidet al-Fadel area in the country’s capital may be higher than 250, including women and children. However, it was impossible to independently verify the information.

 

The bloody civil war in Syria continues as the forces of President Bashar Al Assad continue to fight the rebels.  This latest news demonstrates the regime’s brutality and commitment by Assad to hold on to the reigns of power at all costs.  There are now reports that Assad has used chemical weapons against his own people. Israel Says Syria Has Used Chemical Weapons – NYTimes.com

The situation in Syria is becoming more desperate with no end in sight.  What happens to Syria if Assad goes down?  Will the Moslem Brotherhood then step in and create another state like we see in Egypt?  Will Al Qaeda seize the opportunity to create a Sharia state and perhaps carry cross border raids on Israel?  Will Iran step in, as some have already suggested, and set up a puppet government?

Since the Arab Spring the Middle East continues to be unstable and which is an understatement.  Scroll down to In Other News, and see the story of what is happening in Iraq, as the sectarian violence between Shia and Sunni Moslem spirals out of control.  There seems to be no end to the bloodshed and the horror of war.

Over a million refugees have left the Syria and any sense of a normal life is a distant memory.

Through all of this, miraculously Assad has managed to stay in power, at least for now.  He’s being propped up in part by Iran and the Russians.  However, at some point this must come to an end and when the dust clears one wonders what will be left.

Assad may be critically injured or dead

This is not a news story. It is purely rumour and speculation, please do not think I am reporting this as fact.

The reason I am writing this, is because I have no reason to believe that my sources have ulterior motives in telling me what they have told me. The story sounds very similar to a rumour that is being floated by the Free Syrian Army, so for all I know, this is just standard psy-ops and propaganda. Nevertheless, I thought you’d be interested.

“This comes from people in Damascus who are connected to the Baath Party, and many are former Saadam Hussein’s Baath people. 

Assad was wounded, shot by some of his guards. He is critically injured and Russian doctors are treating him. He is close to death or have died. 

He is being treated at Tashreen [military] Hospital. The Hospital is surrouded by presidential guards and cars are not allowed to drive close to the building.

Syrian news agencies and state TV are not even responding to challenges made by rebels that Assad appears on TV.

Word running in the preidential palace that Assad is in fact dead. The Guard(s) who shot him are reported to have fled, and the operations seemed like a well-thought assassiantion [sic] and maybe not just someone who made the choice.

While Assad’s guards are loyal, they are still for sale for whoever pays more.”

I’m posting this story as a follow-up to a over-the-weekend-breaking-news story that I posted here a little over a week ago.  There has been nothing in the main stream press regarding Assad’s whereabouts.  Meanwhile in Damascus – See In Other News – citizens are fleeing for there lives.  As I have stated before is this the destruction of Damascus foretold in Biblical prophecy?

My guest on Acceleration Radio tomorrow is Bill Salus and while we pre-recorded the show on Monday, the information Bill relayed is up to date and pertinent, so you won’t want to miss this show.

If Assad is alive then why haven’t we seen him?  If he’s clinging to life in a hospital in Damascus, then the story of the assassination has been managed well, and kept under the radar, by those loyal to him.  If he’s dead, why haven’t the Syrians carried out his last wishes?

In closing todays post:  The Middle East continues to slip into chaos.  Israel struck Gaza for the first time since the “truce.”  John Kerry is floating the typical land for peace, two-state solution, which will never work.  Egypt is embroiled in its own inner turmoil as The Moslem Brotherhood continues its forced marching of the populace into a Sharia state.  Iraq is plagued by suicide bombers who blow themselves up on a regular basis with no end in sight.  Al Qaeda is alive and well and digging in on the Golan Heights overlooking Israel.   Iran is continuing her goal to produce a nuclear weapon.  Antisemitism is at an all time high and is much like it was in 1938.  You should see some of the hate mail I get in regard to Israel!

In my opinion, these times are unprecedented and at some point war will break out.  Bill Salus and I discussed possible scenarios for this and our show will air tomorrow night.  In the meantime like most of us, I wonder about the fate of the Syrian people if Assad is in fact, dead.

I’ve been watching this for about three hours now, and felt it’s time to put it up.  We don’t have any details and as far as I’m concerned the story is still in the rumor stage as it has not been vetted.  However, all things considered, I’m posting it because if it is true it is a game changer.

Here’s some thoughts to consider:

1.  If Assad dies who will take control?

2.  If Assad has a head wound and survives now what?

3.  What happens to Syria’s chemical weapons?

4.  Will the Israeli’s move in to secure the chemical weapons?

5.  Will Turkey seize the opportunity to invade?

6. Will Iran assert its muscle?

7.  How will the Russians react?

I re-posted this blog from two days ago as it is pertinent and timely.  It’s Thursday morning on the West Coast and there’s nothing new to report other than the story that Assad has apparently loaded his chemical weapons. This means the Sarin nerve gas is now active.  Added to this is the US naval presence along with 10,000 arriving near Syrian shore on USS Eisenhower.

What will happen is anyones guess.  Assad knows the end is near and his use of chemical weapons is a last-ditch attempt to cling to his power base.  The country continues to bleed as the number dead is over 40,000.  If Assad uses chemical weapons this will more than likely prompt a mass invasion by the US and her allies.

However Russia, is in the wings and is has armed Turkey, which borders Syria.

“The possible use of chemical weapons would be completely unacceptable for the whole international community and if anybody resorts to these terrible weapons I would expect an immediate reaction from the international community….”

President Bashar Al Assad, still manages to hold onto the reigns of power in Syria, in spite of 40,000, of his own citizens killed in a bloody civil war, which continues unabated.  The world is well aware that Assad has chemical weapons.  I posted here, years ago the idea that Saddam Hussein may have floated his chemical weapons over to Syria before the US invasion.  It’s no secret Saddam had them, as thousands of Kurds were gassed by the regime.  In addition to Saddam’s stash, Assad’s government manufactures tons of chemical weapons on a yearly basis.  The question in everyone’s mind is, will he use them now?

Assad has threatened to set the Middle East on fire if he believes he will lose his position of power.

 In a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Assad said: “If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv.”

Assad’s regime is in a perilous state.  Air traffic to the Damascus airport is spotty and yesterday Egypt canceled flights there because of security reasons.  There is a flood of refugees pouring into Jordan, which is taxing the Hashemite kingdom.  Added to this dynamic is the threat of the Moslem Brotherhood, who recently has targeted Jordan, as the next country to fall in the Arab Spring.

We showed clips in Watchers 5; of Dan Gordon explaining the brutality of the Assad regime.  While Dan, who is a reservist in the Israeli defense forces, is speaking about Assad’s regime, we cut to a room in which a score of dead children are being mourned over.  The video is chilling as it shows unedited, the results of Assad’s brutality.  Gordon explains that Assad goes after the entire family, including women and children.  This is how it’s done in the Middle East.  There are no rules of engagement and anything goes, including rape, torture, killing of children and old people, and now, perhaps the use of chemical weapons.  Essentially, everyone is a target.

Chemical weapons are weapons of mass destruction and the body count can rise dramatically if they are used.  The use of WMD’s are condemned by the International community, nevertheless I believe Assad will use them if he believes it’s the only way to cling to power.

In closing todays post:  Assad is a cornered lion.  His regime seems to be slipping away and there are rumors that he has fled the country or is dead.  However, if he is alive the questions lingers, will he use the chemical weapons against his own people to attain a pyric victory?

With all that is going on in Syria, I am reminded of the prophecy from Isaiah 17, which states; Damascus has become a ruinous heap.  With what is  transpiring in Syria, it makes me wonder if we are seeing this prophecy being fulfilled, not in one large tactical nuke attack, like many have supposed, but a slow lingering demolition of houses, and buildings, brick by brick, as the civil war continues.

Be still and  know that I Am God.  Behold, the days are coming when I will show my strength on the mountains of Israel.

Egypt is going through yet another upheaval, as opposition to the newly elected Mohammed  Morsi’s government demonstrated near the Presidential palace and forced Morsi to flee.  The Arab Spring continues to amaze me as the unexpected seems to be the new normal.

Last night I watched the O’Reilly Factor on Fox News.  I tuned in because Charles Krauthammer was giving his analysis on the so-called US Fiscal Cliff.    Both men warned of the collapse of the US dollar, as we continue to spend our way into oblivion.  Regardless of what you think about these men, they are warning of an impending fiscal collapse.  If the dollar crashes, it will be disastrous, yet Obama and Washington continue to spend our country into oblivion.  The Real Fiscal Cliff – Conrad Black – National Review Online

Syria’s Assad returns to public eye with ally Iran

After almost three weeks without appearing in public, Syrian president Bashar Al Assad surfaced and when he did it was with Iranian senior envoy, Saeed Jalili.  This confirms what I have been saying for months, that Iran will not let Assad fall as it demolishes the Shia Crescent of Iran, Syria and Hezbollah.  One reason why the US is so adamant about Assad stepping down is they believe The Shia crescent is a direct threat to Saudi Arabia, the Sunni Islamic state where we get a good portion of our oil from. (See In Other News for Saudi Arabia story.)

The bottom line here is that Iran is backing Assad and they have no intention of seeing him deposed.

The player to watch is Russia.  If they do nothing to aid Assad then it is only a matter of time before his regime collapses.  However, if they deploy troops and prop up his regime then Assad and the Iranian, Syrian, Hezbollah, Shia Crescent remains intact.  Another possibility is the Iranians sending their troops to Syria, which would further destabilize the region and perhaps draw a military response from Israel.

Another player that so far has remained in the shadows is Hezbollah.  INTEL states that Hezbollah is chomping at the bit to come to the aid of Assad.  The rank and file members are petitioning Hezbollah’s leader, Nasrallah, to give the word to come to Assad’s aid.  Hezbollah is well armed and fanatical.  They are also committed to the destruction of Israel.

There was also a story today that indicated Syrian rebels may have had access to WMD’s, (Weapons of Mass Destruction) which is part of Assad’s chemical weapons cache.  If this is true and the rebels use the weapons, I believe Assad’s response would be to then use his chemical weapons against the rebels.   This would escalate the war and bring about a new dynamic not seen since former Iraqi president, Saddam Hussein deployed chemical weapons against the Kurds.

In closing today’s post:  WWIII is on the horizon and every day brings new details and possible scenarios.  Assad is not going away and with this new reaffirmation of an Iranian alliance the west and the Saudi’s hope of toppling the regime, are once agin thwarted.

Prayer Need!

L.A., Kent Brashear here.  Tuesday morning I am having major surgery on my right eye and I am asking people to pray for me, that all goes well and to shortening my healing time.  I had it done to my left eye a few years ago and it didn’t go too well and I was blind in that eye for at least four months.  All I could see was light and colors.  It had to be done over 12 days later and now I don’t see too much better.  A wrinkle formed on the new cornea.

But, as frightened as I am, I need to have it done.  If you have a prayer please ask others to join with you.  I know this may seem a bit out of the ordinary but I believe in prayer.

Big Russian fleet nears Syria. Iran to fight regime change as foreign forces pile up

Deputy Iranian Revolutionary Guard chief, Gen. Masoud Jazayeri, warned on Tuesday, July 24, that Tehran would not permit regime change in Damascus and if Syria’s enemies intervened, Iran would hit them hard. 

I am amazed and somewhat disconcerted by the buildup of military forces in the Middle East.  The beginning of WWIII may be happening right before our eyes.  This latest move by the Russians is huge and with the Iranians insisting that Assad’s removal will usher in a hard response from them – a dynamic that I blogged about a little while ago – it would appear the nations involved are at an impasse.

I am of the opinion that the Syrian civil war will escalate and erupt into a regional confrontation.  I hope I’m wrong, but at this moment it appears that there is no middle ground as the battle lines are drawn and the armies are at the ready.

I am presently trying to take a much-needed vacation.  However, as you can tell by my daily posts, this is hardly the time to do so!  The mood on Cape Cod, where the wifey and I are at present, is business as usual.  People are boating, sailing, eating out, going to the beach.  To most of them the events in  Syria are a million miles away and have no affect on them.  Life is the same as it ever was and nothing is going to change it.  I am amazed at the apathy and the sleepiness of many of the people I run into here.  It’s like nothing is happening and the world really isn’t on the bring of WWIII.

In closing today’s post:  As a watchman I continue to point out what I see shaping up and what I see is the nascent beginnings of WWIII.  As I stated a few days ago, the 9th of Av is coming.  What a “coincidence” it would be if war broke out over this coming weekend.

On Another Note:  There is also something happening here that is alarming and it is TSA operating at bus stations and train stations.

America is becoming more like Nazi Germany every day and all it would take is one train to blow up or a bus and then what?  Would travel would be restricted and people need passes to go from one town to another?  The American people didn’t voice much opposition to the TSA searches and pat-downs, when it was implemented after 911 and as usual the apathy is overwhelming.

Freedom is precious and our forefather fought for it and many gave their lives in obtaining it for us.  Now it is being slowly taken away and soon we will live in a strange land, perhaps with checkpoints everywhere.

This was the deadliest blow to the Assad regime in the 17-month Syrian uprising, striking deep inside the president’s inner circle and family: Shawqat was married to his sister.  It took place on the fourth day of fierce fights with rebel forces which seized parts of Damascus and are battling superior government forces backed by heavy tank, artillery and machine gun fire and helicopters.

It would appear that we are seeing the end of what the Red Cross has announced is an all out Syrian civil war, for Assad is loosing ground and loosing it fast.  The suicide blast that killed the Defense Minister – see link above –  is a blow to the regime and Assad has done little in the way of retaliation, so far.  Assad may be down to his last move, which as I see it, is to deploy chemical weapons against Israel, in hope of diverting attention away from himself and rally Moslems around the common enemy, Israel.  That scenario most likely would result in the total destruction of Damascus as the Israeli’s have announced, if chemical weapons are used against them they will annihilate Syria. However the wild card is Putin.  So far he has not come to the air of Assad, as he’s on the sidelines, letting events play themselves out.  It’s hard to predict at this point what the outcome will be.  In my opinion, Assad is now cornered completely and unless he does something drastic he will lose the reigns of power.  In the eyes of the world he most likely has reached pariah status, so he has nothing to lose.  I’m sure images of Saddam Hussein swinging from a rope and Moamar Gaddafi being gang raped by men, give Assad nightmares.

Another wild card is Iran.  Will the Islamic Republic come to Assad’s aid or will they do nothing?  Khamanei, the supreme leader of Iran, announced recently that Iranians should prepare for the last days.  If the Iranians move to aid Assad will the Russians join the fray as well?

In my opinion the major player here is Putin, as I believe he literally holds Assad’s fate in his hands.  We’re down to what may be the final act of this drama that has played out for months and resulted in thousands of Syrian civilians killed.

With that in mind, Israel has voiced its concern over what government will replace Assad if he is deposed.  Most likely the Moslem Brotherhood will attempt to take power as they did in Egypt.  If that is the case then Israel would be hemmed in on its West and Northern borders by hostile countries.

In closing today’s short post:  The situation in Syria has reached a crises point, an endgame is unfolding and at this point anything can happen.  Assad has two choices, flee the country or use his chemical weapons.  Without the aid  of Putin he has little choice.
