John 1: 1-3 In the Beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by Him and without Him not anything that was made was made.

We live in a post-christian world where we are told we evolved from primitive life forms.  Evolution teaches us that over a very slow process and millions of years, starting with a chimp-like creature, we ascended the evolutionary ladder and somehow became modern man.  However when we read the “good news” of John, we get a completely different story.  We hear that Jesus, the Word, was with God in the beginning, and that He was God.  Then we get the punch line, all things were made by Him and without Him not anything that was made was made.

So we have a disparity here.  We have Evolution which teaches us that there was no God, no divine act of creation, just mindless evolution over millions of years.  Then we have the Christian world view which points us to the God of the Universe, essentially speaking everything into existence, from nothing!  They both can’t be right and thus one position is terribly wrong and untenable.

The Word is Jesus, and when he walked the earth He demonstrated, over and over again how He was able to speak things into existence and change with a word any situation.

“Be still,”  when He rebukes the storm.

“Lazarus Come forth!”  when He raises him from the dead!

“Go your way your servant is healed,”  when he heals the centurion’s servant.

He changes water into wine, creates enough food to feed thousands of people multiple times, gives the blind their sight, the deaf their hearing and restores the lepers.  Wherever He goes there is goodness, and a foretaste of the kingdom of heaven.  How can anyone argue with that?

I believe the universe itself was spoken into existence, by Jesus.  He fashioned it and at one point will roll it up like a scroll.  I have no idea of how He did/does these things, which is why He is God, but the evolutionists have no idea how the first self-replicating molecule came into existence.  They don’t know!  They have faith in their evolutionary model, I have faith in a loving God.  They believe there is no heaven or hell or supernatural, I am a frank supernaturalists and believe the supernatural is more real than this universe we live in.

In closing today’s Bun:  As Christians we believe in and rely on the words we find in our Holy Book, the Bible, or as I prefer to call it, The Guidebook to the Supernatural.  We believe Jesus was God and was able to speak everything into being.  We also believe He will come back and change the agenda of the Fallen One, which I believe is reaching a peak.  He is our ultimate hope and when He arrives He will destroy the Fallen One and his armies with the breath of His mouth.

As I am writing this I am reminded that I too, am fearfully and wonderfully made.  As I sit here, my heart pumps automatically and my lungs breathe, my eyes are working and my fingers are typing, and hopefully my thoughts are  being relayed to you, the reader with clarity.  We are His handiwork, made in His image and likeness, and one day we will be like Him.  So in the end which world view has the most hope, evolution, which has no promise of an after life, or Christianity which tells us who made us and for what purpose and offers us eternal life through the creator of the Universe, Jesus our Messiah?  To Jesus, the Creator!
