Syria loads chemical weapons into bombs; military awaits Assad’s order

Syria loads chemical weapons into bombs; military awaits Assad’s order – World News

I re-posted this blog from two days ago as it is pertinent and timely.  It’s Thursday morning on the West Coast and there’s nothing new to report other than the story that Assad has apparently loaded his chemical weapons. This means the Sarin nerve gas is now active.  Added to this is the US naval presence along with 10,000 arriving near Syrian shore on USS Eisenhower.

Thousands of US troops arrive near Syrian shore on USS Eisenhower — RT

What will happen is anyones guess.  Assad knows the end is near and his use of chemical weapons is a last-ditch attempt to cling to his power base.  The country continues to bleed as the number dead is over 40,000.  If Assad uses chemical weapons this will more than likely prompt a mass invasion by the US and her allies.

However Russia, is in the wings and is has armed Turkey, which borders Syria.

Russia Docks Warships in Syria as NATO Arms Turkey

Russia Docks Warships in Syria as NATO Arms Turkey – US News and World Report

I will be presenting updates as they happen in real time.  In the meantime prophecy is forming right in front of us

(Reuters) - NATO told Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday that any use of chemical weapons in his fight against encroaching rebel forces would be met by an immediate international response.

NATO warns Syria not to use chemical weapons | Reuters

“The possible use of chemical weapons would be completely unacceptable for the whole international community and if anybody resorts to these terrible weapons I would expect an immediate reaction from the international community….”

President Bashar Al Assad, still manages to hold onto the reigns of power in Syria, in spite of 40,000, of his own citizens killed in a bloody civil war, which continues unabated.  The world is well aware that Assad has chemical weapons.  I posted here, years ago the idea that Saddam Hussein may have floated his chemical weapons over to Syria before the US invasion.  It’s no secret Saddam had them, as thousands of Kurds were gassed by the regime.  In addition to Saddam’s stash, Assad’s government manufactures tons of chemical weapons on a yearly basis.  The question in everyone’s mind is, will he use them now?

Assad has threatened to set the Middle East on fire if he believes he will lose his position of power.

Syria’s Assad Threatens To ‘Set Fire To The Middle East” Destroy Israel

In a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Assad said: “If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv.”

Assad’s regime is in a perilous state.  Air traffic to the Damascus airport is spotty and yesterday Egypt canceled flights there because of security reasons.  There is a flood of refugees pouring into Jordan, which is taxing the Hashemite kingdom.  Added to this dynamic is the threat of the Moslem Brotherhood, who recently has targeted Jordan, as the next country to fall in the Arab Spring.

We showed clips in Watchers 5; of Dan Gordon explaining the brutality of the Assad regime.  While Dan, who is a reservist in the Israeli defense forces, is speaking about Assad’s regime, we cut to a room in which a score of dead children are being mourned over.  The video is chilling as it shows unedited, the results of Assad’s brutality.  Gordon explains that Assad goes after the entire family, including women and children.  This is how it’s done in the Middle East.  There are no rules of engagement and anything goes, including rape, torture, killing of children and old people, and now, perhaps the use of chemical weapons.  Essentially, everyone is a target.

Chemical weapons are weapons of mass destruction and the body count can rise dramatically if they are used.  The use of WMD’s are condemned by the International community, nevertheless I believe Assad will use them if he believes it’s the only way to cling to power.

In closing todays post:  Assad is a cornered lion.  His regime seems to be slipping away and there are rumors that he has fled the country or is dead.  However, if he is alive the questions lingers, will he use the chemical weapons against his own people to attain a pyric victory?

With all that is going on in Syria, I am reminded of the prophecy from Isaiah 17, which states; Damascus has become a ruinous heap.  With what is  transpiring in Syria, it makes me wonder if we are seeing this prophecy being fulfilled, not in one large tactical nuke attack, like many have supposed, but a slow lingering demolition of houses, and buildings, brick by brick, as the civil war continues.

Be still and  know that I Am God.  Behold, the days are coming when I will show my strength on the mountains of Israel.

A shout out to my God son Jake, who is serving on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69). Missing you and praying for all of you.
Keep it straight kiddo! Congrats on your promotion!

Awesome, thank your son for his service!! I will keep Jake in my prayers.:)

Thanks Matt. Will pass it along. We were looking forward for the crew to be home for the holidays, they were on their way back to Norfolk a couple of weeks ago.

Praying for all of them. I think they’re all going to be into something pretty soon.

With Sarin Gas you have 60 days to use it or lose it. Unfortunately, I have a very bad feeling I know which way Assad is going to swing there and what that’s going to mean.

      Keep praying, folks.

Am I the only one that sees something wrong with a bunch of self-professed Christians having nothing but good words for someone who is killing others in the name of country?

Is he living for Christ or his country?

Are we told we are allowed to kill for freedom?

What about: “if he is led into captivity, into captivity he should go”.

    • I do believe you are the only one who sees it that way.

      Quote–
We sang “Onward, Christian Soldiers” indeed, and I felt that this was no vain presumption, but that we had the right to feel that we serving a cause for the sake of which a trumpet has sounded from on high. When I looked upon that densely packed congregation of fighting men of the same language, of the same faith, of the same fundamental laws, of the same ideals … it swept across me that here was the only hope, but also the sure hope, of saving the world from measureless degradation. —Winston Churchill

My grandfather fought in WWII and was first boots on the ground to enter the concentation camps after they liberated them. That man was one of the best Jesus adoring Christians I ever knew and he is in heaven.

Sometimes if we can’t say something nice, we shouldn’t say anything at all.

    • Jesus told his disciples to carry a sword. We are told to defend the orphan and the widow. So there ARE,times when we fight against evil. Do you think the angel Gabriel is up there wagging his finger at them?

I do not like war. Loath it in fact. There is something wrong with us if we didn’t loath it. I do not know if killing someone in a war against evil is a sin. Probably is. However, love will cover a great multitude of sins.

I am praying for your God son Jake.

Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

      Psalm 144:1-2

    • bchaplin88 said

“You’ve heard it said eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, but I say to you love your enemies.”
“Those who use the sword will die by it”
“My kingdom is not of this world, if it was my diciples would fight”
“For we fight not against flesh and blood”
“Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”
“Those that are led into captivity, into captivity they should go”

If a rapist wants to take a widow, we defend her. That is not the same as justifying participating in the war on terror in the name of freedom and patriotism.

      How did the apostles fight?

    • LookingUp said

“There’s a time for peace and a time for war,” Ecc 3:8. Romans 12:18, “As much as is possible with you, be at peace with all men.” I’m not sure about why we’re involved in the wars we’re in today, but I do know there is a time to fight. Hitler comes to mind. Where would the world be today if men hadn’t been willing to kill and die to stop him? I’ve never talked to any veteran who enjoyed it; it was a job that needed to be done. I know we like thinking about a God who is loving, kind and compassionate, but He also said He hates evil and those who do it.

    • bchaplin88 said

We are not considered apart of this world. We are not called to fight in the new testament. The Romans verse does not advocate violence, you are reading that into the text to justify your own belief.

Yes, the kingdoms of this world will fight, but ours is not of this world, thus we are to observe and place our trust in the Lord. What does Paul describe as our weapons?

Shield of faith. Sword of truth…

Be not conformed to this world.

I understand what you are saying, but you are being wise in your own conceits rather than relying on the Word.

We are sheep among wolves. The disciples all died horrible deaths. They never fought, nor did Jesus. Follow men if you wish (PS Churchill was a freemason) but it’s wiser to follow the Lord.

I am thankful for this blog, and the friends I have here…but that doesn’t mean I think you are correct in your assessments and I should cower to your infinite wisdom. I plain out think you are wrong, so what. no big deal, we move on in Christ’s love for each other and call it a day.

Talk about love of most growing cold. I’m casually in a Facebook prayer/Bible group and a lady pops in there today with this:

“Today is my birthday and my husband has told me he is not attracted to me anymore. I am blown away by this. We have been married for 44 yrs. Please pray for us. I just don’t understand.”

Unfortunately I understand all too well even though I’m only 36 years old.

It’s unbelievable. I’m SO sick of seeing this sort of thing.

    • Debra said

Eric, I’ve always wondered about that Scripture. Is it referring to Christian love towards fellow believers and those we perceive as our enemies? Or is it more of a generic statement about people in general? Either way is its cause due to the overwhelming force of fear tearing at our lives?

    • Mrs M said

Sounds like a girlfriend on the side. Sad too, after 44 yrs of marriage. After 44 yrs I would think sexual attraction would wane, only to be replaced by a deeper bond by being with someone for so long. Praying for your friend. And praying we all be found in the shadow of the Almighty when we see prophecy fulfilled.

    • blic said

too much sexuality in this world. everywhere.

    • Praying for this lady and her wayward husband.

Sounds like boredom to me. Being married means working on the relationship; love doesn’t stop but it can become an ember that needs fanning.

However, God is love and if this man doesn’t have God in his heart, love won’t dwell peacefully, much less flare up.

I feel for the lady and her hurting heart and confusion. Sounds like she does have God in her life and only God can heal her relationship.

      Blessings.

15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.

18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

I can’t believe how much divorce and unfaithfulness there is out there, Seems just about everyone I come in contact with is either divorced 3 or 4 times, or cheating on their spouse…
I feel sorry for this lady, how devastating it is to have someone you have shared your life with for 44 yrs. to say such a hurtful thing…he is not a man to me because if he is unhappy in the marriage for whatever reason there is no call to say such hurtful things to your wife. Sounds to me like he is frustrated about something and striking out in a hurtful way, and it could be anyone’s guess as to why. Satan is coming agent marriages. I see it every day at my job…guys that I work with that are married fall over themselves just to get ladies phone number and such…it’s crazy, Marriages vows mean nothing anymore, just words on a paper, nothing more. He says he is not attracted to her anymore,,,well, we don’t see the other side of it, I’m sure he has changed in the 44 yrs. since they were married…not one of us looks the same as we did back 20 , 30 years ago. I have an opposite view on it, I feel my wife gets more attractive every day that I spend with her, of course she doesn’t look like she did when I first met her but to me she is aging like a fine wine, she seems to only look better with age. Now me on the other hand…I’m surprised she is still hanging around…lol I’m more like the milk you find months later in the back of the fridge. Not aged well at all ;)
Really truth be known, looks don’t mean a whole lot. They fade after the years and you better have something besides that in your marriage. After 44 years you would think this guy would have some sort of bond with his wife. Marriage is certainly not easy; you go through battles together and get all these scars though life, that’s what brings the bond and closeness, sad this man does not realize what he has.
The grass is not greener on the other side; he will learn this the hard way it looks like. I do know one thing that is one cold hearted dude to say that to his wife on her birthday.

    • Eric W. said

      Agreed all.

My guess (and that’s what it is) is that if Assad uses gas, it will only be a minor blip on the screen. For a world that’s seen everything, there won’t be that much outrage. (“Saddam beat him to the punch 15 years ago”…ho hum, they’ll think.)
Nobody can relate to Syria. It’s like another planet to most inhabitants of earth. Nor is it even “real estate” anybody wants! Does it even produce oil in significant amounts? Are there any companies there that produce products the rest of the world needs or wants? Nope.
Like the endless talking about the “fiscal cliff,” most folks just want this episode to be wrapped up pronto. “Put another dictator in place,” they think. “Who cares who it might be? Put a rebel leader in place, even. Let’s just get it done and move on…”

  5. Let’s say Assad gambles… attacks Israel with WMDs in some fashion.
(or some covert agency makes it seem that Assad attacks Israel with WMDs)

Israel uses that as an excuse to nuke Damascus — becomes the cup of trembling for the world. If Israel had attacked first, then the UN would push for immediate intervention like with Assad using WMDs first.

Israel is then seen as having “just cause” to protect itself. So the UN is at a stand-off. But general discontent against Israel continues, since they might have tacticals already in place around the globe. And especially where there aren’t fancy radiation detectors able to pick up a low yield well shielded device.

    Antichrist comes on scene… covenant… broken… 666… great tribulation… millennial kingdom, etc.

So, is there any benefit for Israel to nuke Damascus in retaliation? Definitely.

What about those masses wiped out or gravely injured in the process? That assumes a larger nuke than needed. Basically a tactical nuke is all that’s needed to wipe out Assad and end the confrontation. At that point no one wants to live in Damascus anyway, like no one wants to live around Fukushima or Chernobyl.

As for “some covert agency” … that’s the hazard when saber rattling. Some enemy can do something like you said you’d do and frame you for it with full consequences. A lesson that Ahmadinejad doesn’t get either. Or Hamas. A nuke in Gaza in response to WMDs of any sort… same scenario, with the added benefit of closing the Egyptian border or a long term basis.

As for delivery of said tactical(s) … could already be in place.

    • Another example of a tongue in cheek reference to some apocolyptic horror story, like CDC posting plans on their website about a zombie apocolypse.

All they are doing is sewing the seeds of fear so that when something horrific does arrive (and it will), we accept the prescribed method of dealing with the horror.

  8. In the meantime, pushing away from chemical weapons, let’s turn our attention to UFO’s for a moment.

Just finished watching most current tv program: “Skinwalker” with Gov. Jesse Ventura and his team from “Conspiracy Theory.” Program aired this past Monday and was downloaded into Youtube yesterday.

This is dealing with UFO’s and the ranch Skinwalker aka Bigalow Industries who are funding and creating an outer space station (an escape pod) …

LA you may want to consider inviting Gov. Jesse Ventura or his son, Tyrel Ventura, onto your program sometime soon. It would really add credence to UFO’s conspiracy theorists who really aren’t theorists but merely telling the truth.

    Blessings,

In an article I read it seems Barack Obama told Assad he was not to use chemical weapons “on his own people”. At the time I read this, I thought it was a rather strange way to state it. Why not say he was not to use chemical weapons on “anyone”. My first thought was, “What, it’s ok to use chemical weapons on someone else. Namely, Israel”.

Maybe I’m reading something into it that wasn’t intended, but I just don’t trust Obama when it comes to Israel.

Just a heads up, Went to see Life of PI today and all I can say is very few movies leave a lasting impression on me…Life of Pi is one of those that do. Not even a single moment is dull; in fact the story is woven so tightly that you never realize that the script is so simple. It is beautifully directed and kudos to director Ang Lee, not only was he able to capture the beauty of India, he was also able to get the best of the actors. Though it does not rank too high on 3D, it’s just visually mesmerizing. The digital rendering of animals, especially the Bengal Tiger, is beautiful to behold. My trust in Ang Lee has gone up to the highest level after watching this movie. Luckily I was able to catch the cheap mid-day show and will continue to relish the after effects of the movie for the next few days…a good family films as well, no violence, profanity or nudity, which is rare in today’s films. This movie is one of the best of the year and even reminds me of the greatness of The Old Man and the Sea, Moby Dick, and Billy Budd, the best you will ever see about a boy, a tiger, and a boat….sure beat that Bond film I saw a few nights ago.

Nothing to do with “infinite wisdom,” just spiritual discernment.

It’s more about who made the post. I don’t care what you think of me and I don’t care you live life your life in a sheltered close minded way. That’s all on you. I never gave you a hard time although I feel you are extremely fanatical, I let you be. But for some reason because I said I don’t agree with you, you freaked out… brother, get a life. Matt – personally the cinematography looks wonderful. I might go see it regardless of the spiritual discernment concerns since you like it so much & a couple other of my friends did too. From my point of view it’s good to pick it apart so that when the topic comes up we can explain that “not all roads” lead to God & that the answers to life’s questions that the author “couldn’t find” are located for us in the Holy Bible. (And for the Christians who have been given a gift of spiritual discernment – Well have to say that in these times Satan is hiding behind almost every rock in the media out there.) Has anyone seen a popular movie lately w/o the spirit of Anti-Christ filtered into it somehow? Seeds are constantly being planted to prep the “global consciousness” for the New World religious order.

    • Matt said

Late Night Lisa, I understand your point and appreciate you. I’m just not threatened by movies such as this…I’m confident in my faith and I know where to draw the line when it comes to entertainment. I do not like gore films, horror movies, explicit R rated films, with fornication and nudity…they are not pleasing to God and I know this…I feel the pulling of the Holy Spirit if I begin to watch something on TV that’s not pleasing to him and I simply change the channel…Life of PI was a good film, it was entertaining, if there was a spiritual message to it, I sure didn’t get it, it was lost on me so it is a moot point. Then again, I didn’t go into it looking for one either. I don’t usually go see a movie with preconceived thoughts and ideas on religion. Even I did get it, why would I be threatened by that? As I said…I’m confident and strong in my faith and watching a film that may promote some different spirituality than mine is not an issue for me, maybe for some, not for me. I don’t listen to a steady diet of Christian music either, but I know where to draw the line. I am not a baby Christian that is swayed by the slightest wind that blows my way. I have heard out the Jehovah witness that come to my door, I have had conversations with the Mormons on their trikes…doesn’t change my faith. I wasn’t rude to them, I didn’t run away screaming, Satan Satan Satan.. when they were done. I just smiled and told them my point of view. Talking to them did not change my faith. listening to music besides Christian music does not change my faith. And going to see Life of PI certainly did not change my faith. Saying all that to say this. I do avoid most Hollyweird films, but this one looked good to me because I liked the story…I think you look hard enough, you can find something negative on all programs. Even CBN. What it boils down to what you feel in your heart is acceptable; if this type of movie bothers you, don’t go. I also loved the film Schindler’s List and that thought it was a well-made move by Steven Spielberg, but many thought I shouldn’t see it due to the violence…how else can you film a movie like that? As I said if the violence or something else in the film bothers someone they should stay home and watch a Kirk Cameron movie.

Late Night makes my point, “I might go see it regardless of the spiritual discernment concerns since you like it so much & a couple other of my friends did too.” You are influeincing people to expose themselves to things that are anti-Christ in thought and purpose. What is the difference between that and what Satan does?

There is not an abundance of sides to take, Matt. There are two: Jesus said you are either for Me, or against me. Our thoughts, words and actions either honor God, or they serves Satan. You can dress it up and try to hide it all you want to, but there is no neutral ground in the spiritl.

There is a way – lots of ways – unto man, but the end thereof is death. You are feeding yourself poison, and your spirit is reaping the death of that. Looks like I’m more concerned about you than you are.

    • Matt, I was the one who posted about the James Bond movie Skyfall saying it was basically a cinematic rendition the apocolypse, calling it the propoganda of fear, which it is.

If you are honest with yourself, you posted your comment expecting backlash, probably hoping for it. You threw down the gauntlet, as it were.

Life of PI looks beautiful, magical. From the previews it probably uplifts everything in the human heart that hopes for a better more loving tomorrow. For those reasons I will probably go see it. I like a good steak, the fat included. I like my share of wine. I enjoy seeing a classy, beautiful woman enter a room with modest dress. These worldly things do not threaten my salvation or those with strong faith. Neither will a movie such as this.

However, it is absolutely essential that we recognise what these movies are for. I am sorry to say, but Satan DOES live under every rock. He is prince of this world, bit more importantly he will come as an angel of light.

These movies reinforce to those who do not profess a love for Jesus that hope and peace can be found elsewhere!! It may seem too subtle and small for you to appreciate the cancer, but the cancer is still there. There is NO worldly hope other than Jesus. I am not worried you saw this movie. Go see it again and enjoy it. But there are millions upon millions who will see this and believe there is hope that can be derived where no hope exists. You can choose to believe that its just a movie and its not intentional if you wish. It doesn’t change the truth that Jesus is the only truth.

Call thay religious zelotry if you wish. I call it embracing the full truth. That said, we are to remain saltly and you are a pretty saltly fellow Matt. Take that as a compliment, cuz it is. God has a great use for open minded servants like you. It’s a strength.

Life of Pi is encoded with esoteric Kabbalistic wisdom sewn into its very fibers. It’s as if Martel wished to present the reader with an introduction to Jewish mysticism!

Sorry Matt. It’s always disheartening when you can’t even go to enjoy a movie anymore. They got to stick it in there somehow.

thank you Mrs M..atleast you can make a point without all that other nonsense… a voice of reason,,thank God.

    • That is what angers me the most. Sometimes I want to see a movie that I can just enjoy without someone’s flippin agenda thrown in there. Is that too much to ask?

I can’t wait for the first cimematic presentation after Jesus returns and is reigning as king.

Probably, something like “Creation”. A cinematic reinactment of the first seven days of our universe. Narrated by God. Enjoy the show!

This year, CERN is beginning another set of experiments in hopes to getting that much closer to completing the Standard Model. Scientists at CERN have announced test dates for the rest of the year, as well as some curious dates can be found in the upcoming schedule. Starting Monday, December 17, 2012 and going through Friday, December 21, 2012, CERN will be launching and running a series of collisions, which are predicted to break records in high voltage collisions already set by the LHC. With these experiments, the scientists are hoping to create atomic reactions that would provide further information about anti-matter, and the big bang.

all together now, “release the (hell) hounds!!!”

I saw a strange story about CERN today: Man arrested at Large Hadron Collider claims he’s from the future

Lisa, was that the story where the description of the man just managed, of course, to match that of the latest Dr Who. The words “tongue in cheek ” spring to mind

    • These scientists scare the crap out of me. The only person who should be playing God and dabbling in the mysteries of creation is God! God’s going to give them a big bang right upside the head.

    here’s a giant story;

The largest ancient Egyptian sarcophagus has been identified in a tomb in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings, say archaeologists who are re-assembling the giant box that was reduced to fragments more than 3,000 years ago.

Made of red granite, the royal sarcophagus was built for Merneptah, an Egyptian pharaoh who lived more than 3,200 years ago. A warrior king, he defeated the Libyans and a group called the “Sea Peoples” in a great battle.

He also waged a campaign in the Levant attacking, among others, a group he called “Israel” (the first mention of the people). When he died, his mummy was enclosed in a series of four stone sarcophagi, one nestled within the other.

Archaeologists are re-assembling the outermost of these nested sarcophagi, its size dwarfing the researchers working on it. It is more than 13 feet (4 meters) long, 7 feet (2.3 m) wide and towers more than 8 feet (2.5 m) above the ground. It was originally quite colorful and has a lid that is still intact. blic, Did you know the lead guitar player for the heavy metal band Korn Brian “Head” Welch gave his life to Chris??…this goes to show God and reach us anywhere we are in life. I read his book called Save Me from Myself: How I Found God, Quit Koran, Kicked Drugs, and Lived to Tell My Story Since then I can’t get this out of my head, so I decided to share it. It’s about a man who used to have FAME, MONEY and ALL PLEASURES a man desires in this Earth, but now he belongs to the Lord Jesus and his life was completely changed for good. As you may already know, Korn is a band that gradually became one of the top-selling hard rock groups, initially earning $25 million. It became one of the most popular heavy metal groups in music that ever existed. It has earned multiple platinum albums and has loyal fans around the world .He was totally strung out on drugs and once saved he was instantly delivered from years of substance abuse with almost no symptoms of withdrawal…only Gods power can do that… He added in the book that his lifestyle before Christ was “total insanity” and that he was “just glad I’m not dead”.

    From the book
“Among problems with his wife being addicted to drugs and a new child, Welch had begun to sink further and further into a crippling speed habit. He’d prepare for tours by stashing as much methamphetamine as he could in vitamin capsules, deodorant containers and his clothes. He was addicted to speed as well as Xanax, Vicodin, Valium and Celexa. All are potent, and highly addictive. Meth, in particular, is considered one of the hardest of all drugs to kick, with a very low recovery rate. He had also developed a serious drinking problem; both his father and grandfather were alcoholics, making Brian at least the third generation to struggle with the disease”

His announcement that he became a follower of Jesus Christ rocked the heavy metal music world. Welch said, “I’ve done hard drugs, I’ve done soft drugs. I’ve seen everything. I’ve done what teenagers dream about, especially guys. I’ve seen all that, and no drug or nothing compares with walking with the Lord.” More than 13,000 people showed up when he shared his testimony at a church in Bakersfield, California. The next day, an MTV camera crew followed him to Israel, where he was baptized in the Jordan River. After Welch was baptized, he told CNN, “I told you right before. Remember? I told you I was angry. I’m not angry anymore. I just want to serve God, and do what He wants me to do, and that’s to teach people that this is real. I just want to see kids, whatever, come to the Lord.”Welch says God delivered him from an addiction to methamphetamine and an empty lifestyle, a story that reminds some of the time Jesus said, he who is forgiven much, loves much. Welch commented, “I came to Him and I seeked Him with everything I had. Everything I had. Because nothing else worked in the world. No money. I have all kinds of money, and nothing worked. And that’s why this is so important to me, because He came through 100 percent.” Subsequently, he traveled to India, where he opened “Head” Home, an orphanage for street children. I found his a testimony on YouTube a couple days ago, I think it awesome who God changed his life and he walked away from all that.

My prayer is that the Lord continues to change lives like this, so we can see His holiness and power being manifested in the life of ordinary and non-ordinary people. The Lord is powerful and He is the only one who can save from addiction and can set people free. Just because of his LOVE for us. His LOVE drives everything… Because of this immense LOVE he died in the cross to save each one of us, and he continuously expresses his LOVE in unmeasurable ways.

Matt, I appreciate your movie recommendation! We have some free theater tickets that expire this month and I was dreading making a movie selection. This looks like a fun movie! Even though it sounds like it still has occult symbolism, it is nice to find something meaningful with a G rating to it.

I agree we need to stay positive. I was so excited the UN treaty failed this week and didn’t even bother to post it here. I felt that the fact the UN CRPD received such stiff opposition after the November elections was remarkable and unexpected for me. No one seemed to share my enthusiasm. This was a surprise, because everyone was so bummed out at the president’s re-election and I hoped this would be an encouragement for people.

Yes, I know the treaty will be voted on in January again, but hopefully the treaty will meet another strong defeat. I am grateful for our freedoms being preserved, even if it is a struggle to guard them.

Thanks gamom. you seem to have a good head on your shoulders, but I have to tell you the film is rated PG..the Tiger gets a bit rough. ;)

Matt , any chance of people just being able to discuss films and reply to your viewpoints without you snapping at them. It’s certainly lowering the tone of this blog.

Am I allowed to mention that Jesse Ventura [ mentioned by someone else above ] has allegedly said some very nasty things about Christianity. If true ,this would make me question his worldview and output. I am quite happy to be corrected on this without being subjected to abuse, no matter how mild.
