What can we learn from Nineveh? Matthew Henry summed it up when he wrote: “About a hundred years before, at Jonah’s preaching, the Ninevites repented, and were spared, yet, soon after, they became worse than ever.”

I think the Jonah time for the U.S. was the Second Great Awakening. Then we had a few revivals break out in the early 20th Century. It’s been about a hundred years, and the effects, like those in Ninevah, have been discarded by the vast majority of citizens.

Now it is the time of destruction.

“Nineveh was laid waste as ruthlessly and completely as her kings had once ravaged Susa and Babylon; the city was put to the torch, the population was slaughtered or enslaved, and the palace so recently built by Ashurbanipal was sacked and destroyed. At one blow Assyria disappeared from history.” (Will Durant, Our Oriental Heritage, pp. 283, 284).

Thousands of Israeli children were ordered to stay home from school on Wednesday to keep them safe from Gaza rocket fire.

School was cancelled in the Eshkol region due to a barrage of rocket attacks in that district, making it unsafe to transport the children on the roads. Classes also were cancelled in the Sdot Negev and Hof Ashkelon districts, where rockets continued to rain down as well.

Oh well, let’s just have another Starbucks and let Israel fend for herself… ?????

also, i might add..if you study the scriptures, you will come to realize there is one sure way to know who the antichrist is before his coming to power. The Bible says he has wisdom may be able to figure it out. Revalation 13:18 says, ‘Here is wisdom, Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six.’ Think about this, if the antichrist were to be the leader of the european union, such as tony blair, it does not take any wisdom at all to figure out who the antichrist is- the presidentof the eurpean union. However, if you try to figure out which of the these ten horns or leaders is to be the antichrist, you would need to see all these leaders birth certificates so that you could see the name with which they were born. One prominent world leader that could someday be one of the ten leaders of this new world government, his birth certificate is not available for anyone to see.
