Sunday Go To Meeting Bun!

Psalm 37: Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Our world is spinning faster and faster as we are wired together and linked by the Internet and satellite TV. News travels at the speed of live and we are inundated with information overload. It is a completely different world than 50 years ago, it moves much faster. Many of us are so caught up in it that we don’t realize that we don’t take time to rest. I’m not talking about a two-week vacation either. Last year when I was desperate for a vacation the Lord intervened and said: Your vacation and your rest comes from me. In other words, we can try to find peace and rest on our own through travel, a ski trip, a golf weekend, or any of the other countless activities that we are privy to in the modern age. However, while all of these activities are fun and worthwhile, let us not assume for a moment that peace and rest can be found in any of them. There is only one Prince of Peace and His name is Yashua/Jesus. Chuck Smith once said that grace and peace are the Siamese twins of the Pauline Epistles. Grace is unmerited favor that we don’t deserve, yet it is abundantly available for us. The peace that He gives to us is not found in the world or through any activity. It is, I believe, a supernatural peace that is given to us freely by the Spirit of the Living God!
In closing today’s Bun: We must learn not only to ask for peace and grace, but ask Him for rest in our lives. We should learn how to wait on the Lord. To understand how be anxious for nothing. If He is in control then He knows what we are going through. Whatever the storm is in our lives, we can find peace through Him who saved us in the first place. The world will never understand this and so it pursues activities, wealth, pleasure and everything else under the sun, in order to find peace, but it is not found in those things. Let’s rest in Him today and know that He loves us and cares for us. The JOY of the Lord is our strength and I would add to that our peace as well!
